Defense Finance and Accounting Service EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (BUS CONTINUITY PLANNER) in Indianapolis, Indiana

Responsibilities Provides Agency-level Business Continuity Planning to include training associates throughout the Agency on sound continuity principles, employing all subject areas of the common body of knowledge of Business Continuity Planning. Creates continuity strategies utilizing business continuity planning software known as Enterprise Business Resilency Planning (eBRP). Provides program planning, assessment, coordination and advisory services for a wide variety of complex interrelated readiness programs ranging from identification of required business continuity and support plans. Prepares and presents classified and unclassified briefings to Senior Leadership as required and ensures proper security procedures are implemented prior to the presentation. Assists in tracking actions for each mission area during an emergency either as a member of the Disaster Management Group (DMG) or DFAS Operations Center (DOC). Assists in establishing and coordinating DFAS network exercises to provide training in and testing of emergency/contingency plans, procedures, and programs. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-11) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized Experience Is Defined As: Serving as a senior-level Business Continuity Planner responsible for assessing and improving program effectiveness to address issues across multiple programs; evaluating key corporate or agency continuity plans, objectives, program events or milestones. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a (GS-11) or higher grade in Federal Service. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement. Education Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GS-12 grade level Additional Information Moving expenses WILL BE PAID. This position is EXEMPT from the Fair Labor Standards Act. Travel requirement is 1-24%. This position IS NOT covered by a bargaining unit.
