Role Overview

The Staff Accountant is responsible for analyzing financial information and performing various accounting related tasks to assist in the accurate and timely preparation and reporting of financial data. The Staff Accountant will prepare journal entries, reconcile financial statements and accounts, and ensure data accuracy. This position reports directly to the Controller.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reconciles bank accounts and balance sheet reconciliations monthly.
  • Prepare, post, and reconcile journal entries, such as monthly accruals, deferrals, payroll entries, and intercompany charges.
  • Assists the month-end and year-end closes.
  • Collaborates with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial information.
  • Supports internal and external auditors with gathering necessary account information and documents to assist the annual audits.
  • Documents existing processes and makes appropriate recommendations for process improvements.
  • Supports key company financial processes and controls governing cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory management, accruals, project reporting, revenue recognition, and other processes as required.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Maintains company confidentiality at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, or related field, required.
  • 2+ years experience in general ledger accounting, or related experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to adhere to GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

The salary range starts at $50,000.
