CLEVELAND-CLIFFS STEEL CORPORATION Logistics Planner in Hamilton, Ohio

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opening for a Logistics Planner at our West Chester facility. As a Logistics Planner, you will support the day-to-day transportation execution activities of Cliffs' Mills, OPs, and/or Inbound material. This position also ensures daily customer service requirements and carrier utilization plans are met with respect to performance expectations and cost. Summary of Responsibilities: Ensure Days-to-Ship goals are met if not exceeded to meet customer expectations and improve working capital. Monitor material, ensuring timely pick-up and deliveries, including critical shipments, while understanding key drivers for aged inventory. Responsible for ensuring fluid inventory movement within the TMS (Transportation Management System) appropriately inclusive of capacity coverage with appropriate equipment to meet delivery expectations. Review optimization models and perform various ad hoc analysis as needed to meet internal and external customer requirements. Works with Lead and Carrier Management Specialist to monitor carrier performance metrics by carrier, lane, and customer to ensure on-time pick-up and delivery as well as areas of improvement by way of continuous improvement root cause analysis. Work in conjunction with Cliffs' Procurement teams on identified capacity lane opportunities to ensure capacity, service, and cost objectives by lane are exceeded; Review areas such as PTA (Primary Tender Acceptance) rates, average number of tenders, spot percentage, etc. Assist Lead to achieve department goals related to cost and performance. Timely response to demands/deadlines from internal and external customers while maintaining cost expectations. Maintain productive working relationships with Customer Service, Inventory Planning, Manufacturing Planning, Mill Operations, Purchasing, and Outside Processing. Communicate service-related issues and resolutions quickly and effectively to appropriate parties. Communicate with both internal and external stakeholders to work through issues that arise, while providing possible solution options. Ensure timely p/u and delivery of critical shipments (Shutdown/Line-Interruption/Rush material), working with carrier base, to quickly secure equipment or re-allocate equipment to meet customer requirements. Effectively communicates potential issues with the appropriate parties while providing alternate options. Work with Lead and Carrier Management Specialist to monitor carrier performance metrics by carrier, lane, and customer to ensure on-time pick-up and delivery Work with Lead and Continuous Improvement Analyst on problem lanes to identify areas of improvement, assisting in identifying root cause, and execute on identified action plans to resolve. Minimum Qualifications: Proven work experience in transportation logistics. Comfortable with figures and in collecting, analyzing and interpreting data. Experience with Flatbed transportation operations including DOT and safety regulations. Possesses strong interpersonal skills and builds relationships within both internal and external customers. PC proficient (Microsoft Office preferred). TMS (Transportation Management System) experience. This position is a fast-paced office environment that requires the ability to make sound decisions quickly. Solid judgment with ability to make good decisions. Ability to help identify opportunities, improve processes, drive execution and manage change. Ability to multi-task and understand how to prioritize workload in order of importance. Preferred Qualifications: Two-year degree in supply chain management, logistics or business management or equivalent transportation and/or logistics experience.
