JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary In 2021, Extension managed 14 gardens with nearly 400 garden plots and 250 gardeners (some gardeners have two plots). Due to demand for garden plots, the program is growing and new gardens will be added and others will be expanded. Assistance is needed in completing task including but not limited to: making sure water tanks are filled, garden plots are planted and maintained, weeding, doing garden repairs, hanging signage, assisting with installation of fencing and responding to questions asked by gardeners. This is an LTE position which means there are no benefits given with the role. Essential Duties Maintain and continue to build relationships with landowners, gardeners, volunteers, and donors. Empower community gardeners to become more engaged in day-to-day operations of gardens. Assist with garden tasks including but not limited to making sure water tanks are filled, garden plots are planted and maintained, weeding, doing garden repairs, hanging signage, assisting with installation of fencing. Respond to questions from gardeners. Communicate garden issues to Community Garden Coordinator. Perform duties as assigned. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of gardening. Knowledge of community resources. Experience working with limited income, diverse populations. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
