About This Role

Textron Systems Electronic Systems (TSES), a Textron Inc. company delivers innovative high-fidelity simulation and training solutions to the commercial and military markets while providing superior technical support and customer service. The TSES business focuses on Military Simulation, Mission & Maintenance Training from our facility in Goose Creek, SC (Charleston).

TSES is currently seeking candidates for aSystems Engineer based in Goose Creek, SC.

The Systems Engineer is a highly motivated, self-driven team player with the ability to perform in a fast-paced, start-up environment. The Systems Engineer will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) who provides the engineering staff with systems concept of operation including interactions between systems and how each system is trained. The Systems Engineer will conduct test and evaluation activities to verify and validate training system functionality, physical fidelity, performance, and contract requirements.

The Systems Engineer reports to the Systems Engineering Manager/Engineering Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Data analysis of customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design modifications or new system applications.

  • Perform requirements analysis to understand the needs of the customer and/or system end-user.

  • Develop architecture models to support requirements development and derivation.

  • Identify technical risks and opportunities and develop risk mitigation strategies.

  • Work and collaborate with multi-functional team to implement, test, and validate customer requirements.

  • Maintain a positive working relationship with the customer, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

  • Monitor and adapt emerging technologies to existing and new products.

  • Participate in system design reviews including requirements, preliminary design, and critical design.

  • Participate in System Hardware/Software Integration (HSI) including troubleshooting and fidelity evaluation.

  • Develop and/or review Training System documentation including Test Procedures, Instructional Materials, and operational manuals.

  • Conduct and/or participate in Training System acceptance testing and sell-off.

  • Participate in the preparation of technical and cost proposals and assist in shaping business strategy for new business capture.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a STEM field.

  • Five or more years of Systems Engineering relevant experience.

  • Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Systems Modeling Language (SysML) preferred.

  • System test or quality control experience preferred.

  • Ability to readily grasp high-level customer requirements to derive usable and implementable design requirements that can be traced to instructional procedures.

  • Effective ability to organize and prioritize tasks.

  • Established leadership skills.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Proficient in the use of computer software packages (Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, etc.).

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple contingencies requiring attention.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance

15-25% travel required depending on the phase of the contract
