Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting or repairing systems within the hospital (i.e., electrical, plumbing, painting, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, oxygen, medical gases) and for general repair of all types of equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic should have special knowledge and training in the care, repair and operating of specialized equipment such as x-ray processors, emergency generators, air compressors, diesel engines, boilers, and chill systems. Also, will assist with fixture repair and other facilities tasks related to general repair and upkeep of the hospital.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

High school, trade or vocation school graduate required. Completion of special equipment repair school preferred.

Licensure/

Certification

None.

Experience

Prior experience in facility maintenance or construction preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Ability to perform basic repair and preventative maintenance tasks on equipment, fixtures and furniture.

· Ability to ensure service requests are completed correctly and in a timely manner.

· Good interpersonal and customer service skills.

· Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.

· Basic proficiency in MS Office and able to learn new software rapidly.

Valid NC Driver’s License
