       The Glenwood Community School District is currently taking applications for a Media Associate at Northeast Elementary for the 2024-2025 school year. The starting wage is $12.25/hr.MEDIA ASSOCIATE (K-2)

GLENWOOD COMMUNITY SCHOOLS CLASSIFIED STAFF JOB DESCRIPTION\

Position: Media Associate (K-2)

Qualifications:Previous experience working with media materials / equipment.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Essential Function: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Reports To: Media Specialist / Building Administrator

Consults With: Teachers, support staff and parents

Position Goal: To help provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning media center environment in which teachers and students can take full advantage of available resources.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Attendance is necessary to be successful in this position.

  • Complete simple repairs on damaged books and procures severely damaged books for repair at the bindery.

  • Maintain and make simple repairs of instructional hardware and maintain repair records of such.

  • Assists teachers with materials at teacher’s request.

  • Assist with scheduling use and delivery of media.

  • Assist with audio or videotaping of classroom or other educational experiences.

  • Send out overdue notices and make phone calls as necessary.

  • Prepare current magazines and newspapers for shelving and maintain the back issues in accordance to established system.

  • Shelve materials.

  • File catalog cards, vertical files, and publishers catalogs.

  • Assist with the annual inventory of media center materials and the preparation of lists of missing materials and materials to be discarded.

  • Check-in new materials and equipment (unpack, verify invoices, process.)(*)

  • Suggest ordering and maintain supplies.

  • Oversee the general neatness and attractiveness of the media center.

  • Assist students in locating and using materials / equipment and work at the circulation desk as needed.

  • Assist students with the usage of technology.

  • Maintaining proper student discipline in accordance to IBI Guidelines for Success.

  • Consults with Technology coordinator concerning computer management and operation.

  • Organize and promote two book fairs per year.

  • Organize and promote the R.I.F. program (Northeast only).

  • Plan and implement library activities for all students which may include storytime, library skills, and book talks.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment: Days students are in school and on approval by Superintendent and/or designee as needed before and after the school year. Wage schedules shall be subject to annual review and modification by the Glenwood Board of Education or through the collective bargaining process, where one exists.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Classified Staff Evaluation.
