The Cigna Group Associate Attorney in Glasgow, United Kingdom

Job Description Summary

The appointee will support legal, regulatory and governance related matters, with the ability to issue spot and exercise good legal, compliance and commercial judgment for the Hong Kong business and the Australia business.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide commercially sensitive, pragmatic and practical legal advice to the business and corporate functions on a variety of legal, regulatory and governance related matters

  • Address legal and regulatory issues arising from business transactions

  • Draft and review commercial agreements, marketing materials and other documents for use by the business and corporate functions

  • Proactively identify legal and regulatory risk in the business and provide alternative solutions to reduce or mitigate the risk while skillfully managing legal and practical business considerations

  • Review consultation papers from regulatory bodies and prepare summaries

  • Prepare legal memos for new legislation and regulation updates

  • Work closely with business functions to ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are adhered

  • Provide corporate secretarial support to ensure timely filings and maintain corporate book records

  • Work closely with Compliance team to provide holistic support to the business

  • Assist in preparing legal and compliance related policies and guidelines

  • Assist in ad hoc legal and compliance related projects as assigned

  • Handle other administrative tasks as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Hong Kong or common law jurisdiction qualified Solicitor with at least 4 years’ post-qualification experience gained from private or in-house practice, preferably in insurance or financial services sector

  • Knowledge of insurance products and insurance operation a plus

  • Strong commercial judgment

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholder relationship

  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment

  • Personal authority, integrity and ethics

  • Self-starter and strong team player

  • Fluent in spoken and written English and Chinese
