Blue River Services, Inc. Peer Breastfeeding in Georgetown, Indiana
Gives basic breastfeeding information and support to Prenatal and post-partum mothers within the Peer Counselors Scope of Practice. Provides that all infant feeding education promotes breastfeeding as the normative way to feed an infant. Promote breastfeeding in a positive manner to community partners. Promote and encourage breastfeeding to all moms (Prenatal and Breastfeeding). Provides continued support and encouragement throughout a mothers breastfeeding experience. Teaches or assists with breastfeeding, including classes and support groups.Attends peer counselor meetings, staff meetings and Breastfeeding conferences/workshop. Assists local agency staff in promoting breastfeeding through special projects, such as World Breastfeeding Week. Makes immediate referrals to the Lactation Consultant or Breastfeeding Coordinator when encountering major or minor breastfeeding problems that are outside her scope of practice.
Requirements:
Must be a current or previous breastfeeding mother. Within last 5 years preferably.
Must have dependable transportation. Valid driver's license and properly insured vehicle.
This is a part-time position covering Harrison county. (Possibly a full-time position covering Harrison and Washington Counties.)
