Job summary:

Our Resources Industry Division has an exciting opportunity for a Mining Regional Associate to join the team! In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting the three critical pillars within the division:

Product Support: You’ll provide technical guidance and assistance related to mining products, ensuring optimal performance, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Commercial Support: Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to promote mining products and services. Your expertise will contribute to pricing strategies, market analysis, and customer engagement.

Site Performance: Monitor and analyze mining operations across various sites, evaluating efficiency, safety protocols, and identifying areas for improvement.

In addition to project-based work, you’ll handle day-to-day support and administrative tasks. Your contributions will significantly impact the success of our mining operations.

What you will do:

Product Support

  • Manage special projects to assist with product problem management covering Southern Africa.

  • Have a direct bottom-line impact on Caterpillar and dealer financial results.

  • Apply your knowledge of products, technology, and industry in support of Caterpillar, dealer, and customer expectations and needs.

Product Problem Management

  • Support Investigation and resolution of product problems.

  • Manage Product Problem Impact on Local Fleet

Product Performance

  • Manage the application of service letters.

  • Publish containment service letters.

  • Technical Consultancy

Commercial Support

  • Advising dealers in developing increased human performance capability.

  • Providing guidance on existing and potential customer service issues and improvement measures within one industry.

  • Assisting dealers with forecast, sales/rental/used strategy planning and sales techniques.

  • Supporting rollout of new products (e.g., products, parts, customer service agreements, other service products).

  • Remain current on customer/dealer market and needs and understand how and why decisions are made within their work group and organization.

  • Direct your development and continual learning through experience and staying abreast of technology changes.

  • Key learning comes from continued experience in the assigned industry, enhancing communication and people relationship skills, improving problem-solving and analysis ability, building, and using business skills, enhancing use of Caterpillar systems, and developing leadership abilities.

  • You must stay abreast of industry and technology changes and relate those changes to Caterpillar, dealer, and customer needs.

Skills you will have:

  • Technical Excellence - Provides effective solutions to technical challenges through strong technical competence, effectively examining implications.

  • Products and Services - Working knowledge : Explains key features, benefits, and advantages of current and new products.

  • Value Selling – Extensive level of experience: Has clear understanding of customer business needs and how to meet those needs. Coaches’ others on the application of 'value selling' principles and practices.

  • Customer focus – Extensive experience: Supports creation of products and services to resolve customer business issues. Fosters strong customer relationships via delivery on commitments, on-going feedback/improvement, and open communication with the ability to constructively engage diverse audience.

Degree and experience requirements:

  • Highly desired is Mining Industry Experience. Mine Site Experience is advantageous.

  • A bachelor’s degree in an accredited Marketing, Financial, or Engineering curriculum.

  • Prior experience in field assignments, especially in the mining space would be an advantage.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and on larger scale, complex assignments.

  • Attention to detail / numerical accuracy/ability to interrogate price proposals generated by dealer staff.

  • MS Suite – Intermediary Excel skills

Top candidates will also have:

  • Position requires previous field rep or significantly related dealer and customer support activities within the continuous improvement, service, or commercial areas where a complete understanding of dealer roles and responsibilities was demonstrated as was a proven capability to resolve issues working through the dealer.

  • Some knowledge of company products and product applications, equipment management, product problem management, and/or warranty practices and procedures.

  • Technical product expertise required.

  • Understanding of dealer operations, and field experience.

  • Knowledge of the dealer territories / geographical areas covered.

Additional information:

  • Must be willing to travel.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • You will be required to be in the office 3 times a week.
