This role is within BD Medical Diabetes Care marketing organization; which is a business unit that has a long history within BD and is unique in that it focuses on one important disease state which is a threat to world health. BD Diabetes Care is comprised of approximately 2,000 associates globally. The growth strategy includes strengthening our core diabetes drug delivery devices as well as enabling expansion of our diabetes disease management solutions. Diabetes Care continues to be one of the fastest growing and most profitable businesses within BD.
The Strategic Marketing Manager focuses on early product assessments (front-end opportunity identification) and leads the innovation phase evaluation process for commercial/marketing. This role sets the foundation for a transition of projects from the Innovation Phase into the GPDS Process.
Focuses on prioritized projects in DC (from direction from Strategic & Innovation Team) to assess specific business opportunities (assessing the competitive landscape, unmet need, addressable market and full opportunity assessment)
Development of the initial product business cases with a focus on specific customer requirements and the building of the target product profile
Participate in the development and execution of marketing and product strategies to achieve or exceed the business unit objectives of innovation and growth for Diabetes Care. This will include analyzing market and customer information, identifying new product innovation opportunities, optimizing product portfolio, planning for the launch of new products and line extensions, pricing strategies and guidelines, etc.
Support the Innovation/Global Product Development System (GPDS) process. Accountable for completion of respective marketing deliverables to ensure commercial excellence through collaborative efforts with all levels of other functional areas (e.g., R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, etc.). Use fact-based data to inform key decisions, driving timely decision-making even in the face of incomplete information.
Develop a global marketing and related early launch plan elements for the assigned product platform that defines "how to win,” including market development, marketing communications, channel and pricing strategies, promotional strategies, and customer-facing associate training.
Utilize and activate principles of segmentation, targeting and value proposition development.
Effectively partner with Commercial Development, regional and segment marketing and other functions to execute the Innovation / Strategic Marketing Planning process in line with the business vision, strategy and goals.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team
Bachelor's degree is required. MBA or related advanced degree strongly preferred
A minimum of 5 years of related experience with a track record of proven success in product/marketing leadership (with a preference for upstream marketing) and designing global marketing strategies within healthcare, medical device and/or related industry
Must have a working knowledge in the following areas: marketing planning and execution, commercial excellence, action oriented with the ability to drive for results, strategic innovation, demonstrated strategic thinking and implementation skills; proven analytical skills with the ability to translate data into insights and actionable plans.
Experience using internal phase-gate product development processes and market research and segmentation methodology preferred.
Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines in an environment of competing priorities. Proven ability to routinely work on multiple tasks with multiple people while effectively prioritizing.

Good demonstration of business and financial acumen skills
