Position: Program Manager: Student Philanthropy and Senior Class Gift

Basic Function: Fairfield University is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and goal-driven Program Manager to join our dynamic Annual Giving team within University Advancement. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in managing, supporting, and achieving revenue and donor goals for our student philanthropy and senior class gift programs.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Preferred experience: 1-2 years in fundraising and/or event planning in a development office or non-profit, preferably in higher education, or similar applicable experience.

  • Additional experience could also include: working in or with student Phonathon, student fundraising, non-profit fundraising, student events, and/or student government.

  • Excellent project and time management skills, attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to represent University Advancement and the University professionally both internally and externally.

  • Must be motivated to learn and flexible to change. Demonstrated creative and strategic-thinking qualities a plus.

  • Ability to work independently, get projects done by enlisting the cooperation of others, and manage details.

  • Highly desirable: Volunteer management skills.

  • Available for evening and weekend work, minimal travel as required.

  • Able to demonstrate and advocate for the University’s Jesuit mission and the University’s commitment to being an inclusive/welcoming community.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Philanthropy:

  • Assist the Annual Giving team in developing annual communication, solicitation, stewardship, and activities for the development of student philanthropy, transitioning students into young alumni (YA) status, with a focus on fostering lifelong connections and philanthropic interests in Fairfield University.

  • Participate in and/or coordinate events and programs for current students, including New Student Orientation, Commencement, Student Fair, etc., in collaboration with our Office of Alumni Relations/ Student Alumni Association

  • Collaborate with the Fairfield Annual Giving team to enhance student education about the impact of giving and attend student events and meetings as a resource for student fundraising volunteers.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with staff members in various university departments, including the Office for Campus Life, Career Center, Athletics, Dean of Student Affairs Office, Office of Alumni Relations, Marketing & Communications, and other relevant academic departments.

  • Manage and train an identified pool of student volunteers targeted to fundraising efforts through regular communication cycles and opportunities.

Senior Class Gift:

  • Capitalize on our highly successful senior class gift program to improve young alumni donor loyalty and experience, creating engaging programs to encourage seniors to contribute to their senior class gift.

  • Utilize a mix of traditional strategies, social media, and innovative tools like online crowdfunding to develop programs and manage class volunteers to meet annual goals.

  • Create and support 4-6 Senior Class-focused events aimed at driving giving and affinity to Fairfield.

  • Recruit and manage 15+ Senior Class Gift Committee members, including 1-2 chairs, to assist in managing and engaging their classmates.

Student Phonathon:

  • Assist with the management of Fairfield University’s student-run Phonathon.

  • Assist with hiring, scheduling, and training of a staff of 40 student callers and supervisors.

  • Ensure the implementation of segmented calling, regular database updates, and fulfillment of Phonathon program goals.

Annual Giving, Advancement:

  • Collaborate with the Annual Giving team on the implementation of STAGiving Day, Reunions, and other priority programming.

  • Monitor progress towards program goals and adjust tactics as needed to ensure objectives are met, reporting on results.

  • Participate in the professional development of the department, promoting efficiency and courtesy throughout the University community.

  • Attend departmental/staff meetings, serve as a responsible committee representative as requested, and communicate effectively with supervisors on pertinent matters.

  • Promote professionalism, efficiency, and courtesy throughout the University community and alumni body consistent with the department's mission.

  • Engage in personal development through membership in professional associations, workshop and seminar attendance, and self-education in higher education and giving trends.

  • Participate in staff, divisional, and University meetings, events, and/or committees as requested.

  • Work within the division's fiscal budget when planning and implementing programs.

Performs such other duties, responsibilities, and activities as required by supervisor and as departmental/University needs indicate.

This position is based at Fairfield University’s Fairfield, CT campus and is not eligible for immigration assistance.
