Ford Motor Company Data Champion in Essex, United Kingdom

The role is responsible for the delivery of modern, reusable, and efficient data solutions to teams within Ford Credit and Ford Bank Germany.

The role interfaces with all teams that rely on Ford Credit customer data both centrally and locally. These teams include Sales, Marketing, Product, Operations, Passenger Vehicle, and FinSimple amongst others. Collaboration with our delivery partners in Data Engineering (IT) is an important part of this role. The position provides an opportunity to grow a candidate’s network as it will require collaboration with multiple Ford Credit areas and Ford. The customer data champion represents the data team and regularly requires interaction with senior management through the Data Council.

This role also provides constant upskilling opportunities and a gateway into other data roles.

  • Understanding business requirements.

  • The effective planning and prioritization of customer data initiatives, including partnering with customers to build the business case for data solutions.

  • Developing the right data solutions and managing all stakeholder communications across various levels of the organization.

  • Providing training and overviews to business partners, customers, and team members.

  • Advising customers on data management best practice.

  • Data sourcing, preparation and investigations are a critical part of this role.

Essential Skills include:

  • Strong SQL and data modelling skills: including the ability to write efficient queries, with advanced operators and mapping and joining data from multiple sources.

  • Commercial acumen to turn data into an asset and proven experience of delivering quantifiable business value through data.

  • Evidence of resolving data-driven problems successfully, with a key role played in the analysis of the information and the decisions made.

  • Demonstrated success in facilitating discussions across various teams and stakeholders (who may have contrasting opinions and agendas), leading to better collaboration and efficient delivery.

  • The ability to communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders in simple terms is necessary.

  • Experience managing end to end data projects as a lead or key contributor including: successful project management (where data is a key element) leading to a tangible contribution to our customers.

  • Flexibility and open-mindedness to adapt to a constantly changing environment and enjoy the challenge. The data team serves multiple teams across Ford Credit, so evidencing how to leverage existing deliverables to changing business circumstances is essential.

  • Previous experience owning a portfolio of priorities and projects with external dependencies, multiple stakeholders and changing business requirements. The ability to challenge assumptions and to prioritise effectively based on business value are essential. Demonstrated experience eliminating or rejecting limited value add deliverables required.

  • Proven experience gathering business requirements and building business cases.

  • Keen interest in data tools, processes, technology, and data challenges with demonstrated examples of keeping up to date with latest technological and data advances. Proactive and continuous upskilling examples required.

Desirable Qualifications & Skills include:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in customer data management, preferably in a UK financial institution.

  • Experience with cloud migration and cloud-based data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Qlik, Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.

  • Experience in influencing data strategy decisions.

  • Experience with data governance and regulatory compliance.
