About the Role

Our Performance Artists will excite and fascinate visitors from around the world by delivering solo performances on our main guided tour experience at Johnnie Walker Princes Street. You’ll take our visitors on a journey through time, celebrating 200 years of Johnnie Walker and re-enacting key historic moments to inspire and engage large groups – leaving them with a truly memorable experience of our brand home.

You’ll have a guided script and various characters to bring to life during your performance, while anticipating the needs of the audience to leave them with an unforgettable experience. You will also be able to engage an audience and show them your passion for the story of Johnnie Walker. You will also assist within other areas of the Experience Department.

This is an exciting role for someone who wishes to harness and develop their performing skills, working in a fast paced and engaging environment.

We are looking for permanent full-time and part-time Performance Artist at Johnnie Walker Princes Street.

About You

You’ll be a natural performer and have the ability to share stories and deliver scripted monologues that entertain and educate our live audiences. You’ll be able to fulfil character profile requirements; be trained in stage movement with the ability to walk and perform simultaneously, often on a moving stage.

Naturally, you’ll be a superb communicator with the ability to invoke a smile from all visitor interactions and a have passion for customer service.

In this role, you will be responsible for/to:

  • Memorize and recite various experience scripts

  • Warmly greet visitors and provide introduction to the Johnnie Walker Brand Home

  • Confidently speak in front of large visitor groups to explain and express concepts and processes in a clear and engaging manner; share the Johnnie Walker Brand Home story through emotionally engaging presentations, conversations, and world-class storytelling

  • Presentation for up to 30+visitors within character

  • Actively engage visitors to enhance their experience at The Johnnie Walker Brand Home, listen to our visitor feedback, requests, and concerns in order to take action in an ethical, effective, and timely manner to exceed their expectations

  • Answer general questions about the exhibitions, history, and process

  • Provide a consistent premium level of service and promotion of brand message to all visitors by being a Brand Champion; promote responsible drinking

  • Continue to develop a knowledge of the Johnnie Walker Brand Home story, brand initiatives, and whisky making practices

  • Maintain continued interest in the Johnnie Walker Brand Home’s exhibits and educational content to better serve the visitor

  • Assist visitors in way finding around the building

  • Assist within other areas of the Experience department and not limited to

  • Ensure that Johnnie Walker Brand Home rules, safety standards, and sanitation requirements are followed at all times

  • Communicate regularly with Experience Operations Supervisor to discuss strengths and opportunities to increase sales

  • Assist in the training of new staff

  • Assist with special events

  • Participate in educational opportunities for personal growth and development

To be successful, you will need:

  • There are some occupational requirements for our Performance Artist due to the role they will be performing. Candidates must be physically fit – you must be able to comfortably walk (unaided and at pace) and deliver up to 12 performances, that last 12 minutes during each shift.

  • Acting or Live Performance background required

  • Experience in hospitality, food & beverage, or tourist attraction industry preferable

  • Ability to fulfill character profile requirements; able to walk and perform simultaneously, often on a moving stage

  • Deep enthusiasm for whisky and its use within cocktails, however product knowledge training will be provided.

  • Strong desire to learn more about the Johnnie Walker Brand Home whisky story, brand, and its characteristics

  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written

  • Fluent Spoken English, additional languages are beneficial, Mandarin preferred.

  • Possess a friendly, helpful, confident, and engaging personality

  • Ability to evoke a smile and satisfaction from all visitor interactions; ability to make emotional and human connections

  • Be guided by a customer-first mindset; ability to understand and interpret consumer insights

  • Be familiar with visitor experience best practices and procedures

  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Requires considerable movement around the Johnnie Walker Brand Home to carry-out job role and activities

  • Must be flexible with work schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings
