Position Description:

Business Analytics and Data Insights are critical to increasing Microsoft’s operational efficiency and is key to the successful execution of both our current and future business strategies. This role will be an integral part of the team responsible for enabling the organization to put analytics at the heart of Channel Incentive Operations.

This role provides a great opportunity to experience Microsoft E2E, to partner across organizations and to operate at a global scale. The focus of the PI Operations Business Analytics role is to enable business analytics as a competitive asset for the PI Operations, its customers and partners. The scope of the role includes early stage envisioning to the implementation and delivery of intelligence findings via reporting solutions. Fundamental to the success of this role and the overall team is close collaboration with a broad variety of Microsoft internal groups and external partners to understand, define and evaluate opportunistic scenarios.

  • Drive data analytics, and trend analysis for an end to end partner experience by providing insights that inform our execution plan, and results that help achieve business development, growth, and compliance.

  • Automate ad-hoc reporting and analysis performed by CI Operations into stable, repeatable, and performance-ready reports, metrics, and dashboards

  • Understand end-to-end scenarios and ensuring solutions are compliant, cost effective and delight our customers and partners

  • Build an expert-level knowledge of our underlying data streams to spot anomalies and synthesize data appropriately for translation into business meaning

  • Align engineering efforts to the goals of CI Operations to become a data driven organization

  • Partner across Microsoft to leverage MS Business Analytic partnerships

  • Deliver business requirements with business analysts, SME’s, IT partners, solution managers, and end-users to drive and document needs including business use cases and scenarios as well as non-functional requirements

  • Collaborate with data modelers, data analysts and business partners to design conceptual and logical data models that represent the information needs of the business and ensure alignment to the intended business requirements

  • Ability to evaluate business processes and data from transactional systems to derive understanding of the information needs, insights, data quality issues and dependencies across the ecosystem; ability to work with large, disparate data sets and utilize analysis skills to trend and interpret information, and turn them into compelling business proposals

  • Develop relationships with BI SME’s, business leads, delivery partners, end-users that facilitates a “we-team” culture for shared business outcomes.

  • Collaborates effectively across the ecosystem to manage dependencies, change and mitigations that may impact the BI assets


Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent alternative education, skills, and/or practical experience is required

  • 4 years' minimum experience in Operations, Program Management, or Project Management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated Program Management experience (including resource planning, risk/mitigation, roadmap/capability development and execution)

  • 7 years' minimum experience in business intelligence, data warehousing and data analysis

  • 5 years' minimum demonstrated Project Management and relevant business experience (including business analysis and strategic problem solving)

  • MBA is a plus

  • Certified Business Intelligence professional (CBIP, CDMP, etc.)

  • Advanced level understanding of BI architectures, data modeling, dimensional modeling concepts.

  • Strong Experience in Microsoft BI stack, SSIS, SSAS, or SSRS Experience or participation in a BI/Data platform architecture design

  • Strong Experience or knowledge of SQL server optimization & performance

  • Experience managing large vendor contracts or managed services

  • Experience working with Business Analysts communities

  • Experience with large internet scale distributed systems, content delivery networks, billing systems, ecommerce, web services, and APIs

  • Ability to communicate requirements to and from both business and technical teams

  • Proven ability to articulate a project's vision and benefits, providing a solid rationale to a multitude of partners
