The Opportunity

Our Business Technology Hub in Cherrywood currently has an opportunity for a Lead SRE Engineer in our Cardiac Rhythm Management division.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced DevOps/SRE lead responsible for managing Azure services hosted in EU region. Working under general supervision, performs a variety of development and production operation duties including, but not limited to, planning, and coordinating software deployments, implementation of services involving Azure Cloud and maintenance. You will be working on various Cloud services involving PAAS and IAAS services, responsible for production support, monitoring and continuous automation.

The DevOps/SRE Engineering team provides a fast-paced, dynamic work environment where engineers work closely to provide software services to patients and physicians. You will collaborate with other engineers in Architecture, Development, Product, IT, Systems engineering teams to continue finding new areas that can be improved by bringing a DevOps/SRE mindset to product offerings. We’re passionate about building products that improve the quality of life for patients. We like to learn along the way and depend on everyone’s input to help us grow as a team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Tech lead for Cloud applications/services hosted in EU region

  • Create and support CI/CD pipelines

  • Experience supporting development and production environments, code promotions, on-call support, Health monitoring and sustaining.

  • Leverage Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to build highly reliable cloud services, manage and operate at scale, solve technical problems, and automate operational tasks

  • Drive service performance health, troubleshooting, operational metrics & capacity management.

  • Optimize cloud data workloads for security, cost, performance, latency, reliability, and availability.

  • Drive incident management and post-mortem analysis

  • Support audits and compliance, adhering to applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.

  • Implement effective standards, methodologies, and processes, driving change proactively as appropriate for continuous improvement.

  • The ability to interact and communicate collaboratively at the highest technical levels with customers, vendors, partners and all members of staff is required.

  • Continual knowledge transfer, training and mentoring of junior staff is also expected.

  • Effectively communicates and partners with cross-functional teams, customers, and stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, or relevant disciplines

  • 5 + years of overall DevOps/SRE experience

  • 3+ years Azure experience as a technical lead

  • Azure certifications are a plus

Must have Skills:

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud platform such as implementation of services involving Microservices, Azure Kubernetes Cluster, Function apps, IOT HUB, APIM, Key Vault, load balancers etc.

  • Experience with any of the Observability/Monitoring tools like New Relic, Applications manager, Solar winds, Pager duty

  • Familiarity with logging tools, such as Graylog, Splunk

  • Good understanding of operating system and networking concepts

  • Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with effective communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive

  • Experience with Azure Data Protection & Backup/Recovery, Site recovery solutions

Preferred (Nice to have) Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience in patching, security remediations, security hardening

  • Proficiency with SQL queries and database technologies involving Postgres

  • Knowledge in configuration management tools such as Chef

  • Knowledge of Project Management practices / certifications is a plus

  • Experience Jira (Scrum of Scrum - Sprint Tasks management), Confluence (Documentation) is a plus
