Abbott Ireland Diabetes Care Division Donegal

The Abbott Diabetes Care division based in Donegal Town manufactures FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This role is responsible for the provision of overall Human Resources support to the Abbott Diabetes Care manufacturing operation in Donegal, Ireland. You will manage all aspects of employment and employee relations programmes related to human resources functional areas.

  • You will advise management, employees, and Human Resources (HR) organisation in human resources policy and programme matters, recommending appropriate decisions or courses of action. You will serve as employee and management liaison as needed.

  • As the HR Manager, you will partner with the business as a strategic partner, a coach to business leaders, and a culture and change champion.

  • You will partner with the business in the management and development of organisational talent.

  • You will keep the organisation's vision and values at the forefront of decision making and action.

  • You will foster a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organisational objectives.

  • You will support the continuous improvement of Employee Engagement and the plant communication process.

  • You will apply organisational development processes to organisational opportunities and challenges.

  • As the HR Manager, you will maintain effective relationships with key HR partners to ensure all elements of HR are successfully coordinated to meet business needs including Learning and Development, Talent Acquisition, Compensations & Benefits and the HR Service Centre.

  • You will champion ER initiatives within the business.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:

Site BHRP(s) reports directly to this Role.

Education Required:

Degree in Human Resource Management or relevant discipline and CIPD certified. 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Previous experience within an established HR environment and a proven working knowledge of all HR functional areas.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Has the ability to work on their own initiative/self-starter and as part of a team. A proven ability to deliver on multiple projects and competing priorities.

  • Skilled at managing change

  • A flexible and innovative approach to work

  • Has Influence/Leadership skills that support the development, communication, and consensus-building for delivering National HR level and Site-specific HR Goals. Provides leadership to assigned staff by communicating and providing guidance towards achieving these goals.

  • Has planning & organisation skills that support the creation of immediate to long-range plans to carry out objectives.

  • Has decision-making skills that involve necessary stakeholders and are based on an evidence-based approach incorporating better practice to achieve objectives.

  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment would be advantageous
