Principal Financial Group Director-Client Services in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

We're looking for a Director of Client Services in our Business Owner Solutions Consulting team! In this role you'll be responsible for the strategy development, implementation activity, and process improvement associated with products used in nonqualified benefit programs.

  • Lead the proposal and implementation processes to create a smooth experience for advisors and customers who use Principal’s private placement variable universal life product and registered variable universal life product. Serve as the liaison for advisors, customers, internal distribution, onboarding, product, and actuarial pricing teams.

  • Lead the suitability process and approval of new opportunities based on compliance and SEC guidance.

  • Respond promptly and accurately to inquiries related to the education, adjustment, and tax consequences of Corporate Owned Life Insurance (COLI). Conduct effective situation diagnosis and follow through to address issues and/or refer to appropriate parties for resolution.

  • Articulate enhancements for our business markets servicing including both business protection and key-person retention concepts for our business customers. Participate in initiatives for customer retention and education.

  • Identify training needs and condense sophisticated subject matter topics into relevant, understandable content to internal and external partners.

  • Maintain and provide the highest level of expertise in matters of servicing insurance products.

  • Participate in strategic planning and policy development for the area. Work with and through other departments to provide effective solutions and systems.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • 15+ years related experience (deferred compensation and life insurance preferred).

  • FINRA Series 6 and 26 (or equivalent) registration is required or must be obtained within 12 months of employment. Must meet firm standards for registration within applicable jurisdictions.

  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication, organizational and time management skills.

  • Leadership, analytical, collaborative skills, strong background in product development, market trends and the sales process are required.

  • This position may be subject to SEC restrictions on personal political contributions.

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

  • Experience with life insurance systems mechanics and intricacies of the Internal Revenue Code sections, including 7702/7702A.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$137000 - $185000 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
