Overview

Uses advanced technical training, experience and process knowledge to address equipment and facility needs on a daily basis and to apply problem solving techniques to higher level issues that compromise safety, quality and/or productivity on an as needed basis. Requires high level knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, principles and the ability to perform advanced troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical systems and the ability and willingness to train others. PLC troubleshooting and programming is a prerequisite.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, Associates or equivalent degree preferred but not required. • Driver's license. • Able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lb. • Minimum 4 years experience in the field or related area. • Working Knowledge of PLC trouble shooting and basic programming. • Safety conscious. • Basic knowledge of electrical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic principles.

• Experience in injection molding is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work with management to establish priority of work assignments. Determine maintenance and repair requirements based on Shire system requests, daily production requirements and PM schedules. Update Shire as required for open and completed tasks as assigned. • Troubleshoot and repair machines, feed systems, control systems and other production equipment. Replace broken or warn parts; make adjustments and/or recommend work to be performed. Perform repair of electrical and mechanical, pneumatic, and hydralic systems. Work with production supervisors, manufacturing engineers and others to improve process capabilities and solve immediate manufacturing problems with long term solutions. • Perform maintenance and repair of plant service equipment including; Injection molding machinery, air compressors, pumps, etc. Cross train fellow team members in areas of ones own expertise in these areas. Perform fabrication and machining tasks as required for routine or emergency repair to equipment. • Learn, evaluate and help implement any of the tools and techniques associated with lean and cellular manufacturing, including 5S, value stream mapping, mistake proofing, quick change-over, just-in-time, autonomous maintenance, overall equipment effectiveness, etc. • Perform advanced troubleshooting of PLC's and demonstrate the ability to modify programs accordingly to optimize control function. Read and interpret drawings, electrical schematics and technical literature. Work with manufacturers and vendors as needed for daily repair activity. • Read and interpret drawings, electrical schematics and technical literature. Work with manufacturers and vendors as needed for daily repair activity. • Move or install machinery and equipment, including; uncrating, positioning, leveling, securing and supply of proper utilities. • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of spare components for equipment in assigned areas in an effort to eliminate significant machine down time. • Ensure documentation of machinery and equipment is current and accessible including uploading to Frontline as appropriate. • Support maintenance requests for building and grounds. Support other facility maintenance requests as assigned. • Recommend departmental improvements to department manager. Work independently with little or no direct supervision of daily activities.
