The Role

This position supports the field services group and network testers. It’s responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex equipment such as switching systems, circuit equipment, fiber optic equipment, network terminal equipment, and data/digital devices. They utilize sophisticated electrical and electronic measuring devices to analyze defects, perform routine maintenance, and ensure the smooth operation of voice, data switches, and transmission systems. Their role is crucial in ensuring reliable communication services by managing the technical infrastructure that forms the backbone of modern telecommunication networks.

Location and Schedule

This is a full time position located in Clifton, CO

The Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining and operating a variety of equipment and systems, including but not limited to: DMS10 DMS100 5ESS as well as ROADM nodes ethernet switches and a variety of muxes.

  • Responsible for the provisioning and maintenance of Central Office equipment including, but not limited to subscriber loop carrier systems, DSL, POTS, digital and optical muxes.

  • Installs, performs routine maintenance, analyzes defects, tests, adjusts, repairs, and maintains complex equipment such as switching systems, circuit equipment, network terminal equipment, and data/digital equipment by using electrical and or electronic measuring devices.

  • Plans jobs and determines materials and resources needed to complete tasks. Updates work and maintenance logs through WFA, Word docs and FOMS databases. Keeps work, team and managers informed of status on work tasks, projects, and problems or obstacles.

  • Reviews and interprets work orders, wiring lists, wiring diagrams, and equipment drawings and follows standard practices in the performance of job duties.

  • Runs diagnostic test programs, analyzes defects and/or tests various types of telephone switching equipment (5ESS, DMS 10, DMS 100, Ericcson, Electronic Data Switching, etc), uses various types of testing devices, e.g. volt-ohm meters, spectrum analyzer, digital communications, OTDR, Fiber Scope data analyzers, etc.

  • Monitors all daily activities of the Central Office. Responsible for several offices and may at times work out of the area.

  • Works varying shifts and hours including possible mandatory overtime, and/or callouts, weekends, and holidays.

  • Ability to work in various conditions. Will be working in equipment rooms (i.e., switch, transmission, power and vault within central office locations, remote equipment huts, customer premise locations and controlled environments vaults (CEVs.) Temperature and humidity levels are normally maintained at acceptable levels, moderate level of noise in most areas; however, engine rooms will have increased noise level when engines are running.

  • Ability to perform strenuous physical activities including, but not limited to lifting and/or moving objects weighing over 100 pounds.

  • When working aloft with ladders or other equipment with weight-capacity ratings, employees must adhere to the Company safety policy and equipment weight requirements.

  • Drive company-provided vehicle. Requires a valid state driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. May require compliance with State and Federal Department of Transportation Drive Qualification Regulations, including drug and alcohol testing. May require a CDL.

  • Ability to travel on short notice, may travel to remote or distant locations. May be away from home overnight(s) on temporary assignments for varying lengths of time.

  • Must wear safety glasses, a hard hat, appropriate safety clothing, and follow established safety practices and procedures. Wear work attire that is appropriate for effective interaction with customers.

  • Work independently with minimal or no supervision.

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$14.33-$39.54- in these states: CO

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
