Senior Architect | Laboratory Planner

Your Role + The Opportunity

 

As the Senior Laboratory Planner, you will lead the laboratory design process for specific client projects. This role plays a key role in building and maintaining client relationships, leading project teams, and leveraging market and design expertise to deliver results and, at the same time, demonstrating our firm's core values, behaviors, and culture. 

 

The Role Priorities

  • Oversee and lead laboratory designs across multiple markets and projects, leveraging our internal Design Process.
  • Lead the laboratory design work across multiple project teams achieving the appropriate net revenue targets, net multiplier goals and individual and team chargeability. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our client's project team members, becoming a trusted business partner and advisor.
  • Responsible for the coaching, mentoring, and day-to-day management of project team members to promote career growth in alignment with the firm's culture. 
  • Play an active leadership role in firm-wide initiatives aligned to the market segment or the firm's business plans.
  • Establish membership and active participation in national professional science and technology organizations.
  • Partner with internal leaders to develop and execute business capture plans, securing incremental project opportunities with existing and new clients to achieve annual financial goals.
  • Present BHDP expertise as a thought leader and industry expert in the design of specialized research environments at professional science and technology organizations' events. 
  • Develop knowledge of government and industry regulations that impact the design of research facilities and laboratory environments.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, equipment, and instrumentation that are integral to forward-looking laboratory design.
  • Stay abreast of emerging research protocols and best practices and methodologies by researching new trends and best practices.
  • Become competent in the design of research environments that promote breakthrough discovery and disruptive innovation.

     

Skills + Qualifications

  • 7+ years of architectural experience
  • Undergraduate degree and/or master's in architecture
  • Architectural registration required
  • Strong customer focus
  • Strong decision quality
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Drives results both independently and through others
