Indian Health Service Supply Technician GS04/05 in Chinle, Arizona

Summary The primary purpose of this position is to perform a combination of tasks concerned with ordering, receiving, storing, issuing and replenishing expendable and durable medical supplies for various departments within assigned service unit and outlying clinics. This position is located at the Chinle Service Unit, Division of Administrative Services, General Services Department, Central Supply, Chinle, Arizona. Responsibilities Works under the guidance of a higher graded employee and/or department supervisor to maintain information in the supply system on supply transactions which consists of entering data for establishing issue quantity, adjusting unit par levels, quantity principals and techniques and replenishing, receiving, issuing and cataloging medical supplies. Assists in identifying fast/slow moving items, inactive items and items affected by changing medical techniques or technology. Observes and assist in printing monthly cost and detailed reports for all units and department for distribution. Provides inventory control by distributing, planning, cataloging, entering, labeling, bar coding/scanning, supply identifying/tracking, using/issuing supply and other related activities. Receives and verifies shipment of medical supplies from the local regional supply service center. Pulls and gathers supplies from warehouse stock to replenish supplies for the patient care storage areas on a daily basis. Coordinates the availability of patient cares supplies. Participate in quality assurance activities to ensure the department meets quality patient care in improving services provided to customers and suppliers. Background Investigation: If you are selected for this vacancy, you must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint check and background investigation. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS04: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to perform the work of this position at the GS-4 level. OR 2 years above high school GS05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Maintaining information on supply transactions. Ensuring items received are properly stored. Coordinating the availability of patient care supplies. Cleaning, restocking and signing checklist. Participating and maintaining with acquisition planning, requisitioning, ordering, receiving, collecting and analyzing data for cost. OR 4 years above high school Successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite is creditable at grades GS-3 through GS-5 for all positions except Reporting Stenographer, GS-5. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Education There are no education requirements. Additional Information Per IHS policy (SGM 21-04) IHS selectees to positions located in Federally operated hospitals, health centers, and clinics must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before entry on duty or have IHS approve a medical or religious exemption. If an exemption is approved then wearing a face mask and regular testing for COVID-19 will be required. Additional selection(s) of candidates may be possible within 240 days from the date the certificate of eligibles was issued for this announcement. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit. Government housing is not available. There are no incentives authorized. Telework is not available. This position is excepted to rotate shifts, days, evenings, and nights; work on weekends and holidays; and on callback duty as needed to provide requested supplies on a an emergency basis and or restocking the inpatient and outpatient areas due to supply outage. This position has promotion potential to the GS-6 grade level. Promotion to the next grade level is at management's discretion and is based on your demonstrated ability to perform the higher level duties, the continuing need for the higher level duties, and "Regulatory/Administrative" approval. Promotion to the next higher grade level is not guaranteed and no promise of promotion is implied.
