About the Role:

The Packaging Development Director is responsible to provide operational and business leadership ensuring effective delivery and stabilization of value-added packaging assets.

    This position supports the Account Management Teams across the business and reports to the Group Account Director who reports into the CEO of the Americas. This position will work in close contact with the account leads ensuring focus on packaging asset delivery while enabling the operational team to accelerate ramp up and stabilization of deployed assets. 

    General Responsibilities:

  • Deliver leadership to build a diverse and capable packaging solution process to the organization based in engineering first principles and operational excellence.  Inclusive of Talent management, development, and retention within the Packaging Center organization.

  • Provide project and operational technical leadership to deliver packaging assets in an effective and accelerated manner. 

  • Ability to lead and manage and execute specific tasks and projects related to meeting client deliverables. 

  • Manage and lead a team of packaging members inclusive of production management, product development, and package engineering. 

  • Be an active participant to represent operational packaging capabilities beyond the primary accounts (i.e. New Business Opportunities).

  • Partner with Account Management, Creative Services, Quality and Logistics leadership to deliver functionally strong and operationally centered results.

  • Deliver and support on client requirements which include design, build, verification, qualification, validation, and subsequent operation of packaging execution. 

  • Develop and refine local processes and procedures for the operational function.

  • Ensure practice matches procedure.

  • Champion continuous improvement

  • Develop and maintain metrics to measure performance against business objectives including quality, savings and sustainability data and make necessary changes to improve performance.

  • Build and promote innovations to account teams to encourage proactive solution building to client partners.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 7-10 years of secondary packaging development in print and packaging production.

  • At least 5 years previous management or leadership experience including leading or working effectively with a cross functional group.

  • At least 5 years of experience directly working with Consumer Product Goods Companies.

    Additional Preferences:

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to demonstrate product effectiveness in front of clients.

  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to train and mentor others

  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities.

  • Solid understanding of basic requirements of regulatory agencies

  • Previous experience in operations and engineering

  • Previous experience with highly automated equipment

  • Previous equipment qualification and process validation experience
