JOB SUMMARY:

Work will consist of installations, alterations, additions and/or repairs of electrical systems, and associated materials and equipment within the high voltage transmission and substation electrical industry. Perform duties necessary to complete assigned task under the direct supervision of Journeyman, Foreman, or Superintendent. Employee should keep all materials, tools and equipment in an orderly fashion and maintain a clean work area at all times. Demonstrating safe work habits and proper care for tools and equipment.

Location/Travel Requirements: 100% travel throughout Mid-West.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Clearly understand and comply with Brink Constructors and Federal Job Safety Requirements. (O.S.H.A.)

  • Must be able to report to assigned job site location on time as directed.

  • Maintain and properly store tools and equipment.

  • Proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment and materials.

  • Accurately organize materials and tools in order to maintain clean and neat work area.

  • Assist in various job duties as directed.

  • Ability to install all sizes of conduit that will ensure timely installations.

  • Ability to learn equipment operations (crane, flatbed truck, trailer, forklift, aerial lift)

  • Ability to use hand tools. (i.e., pliers, hammer, crescent wrench, side cutters, channel locks, screwdriver).

  • Must be able to safely use all power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders and KO punches.

  • Assist in carrying poles, digging holes, and other such operations involved in setting or replacing poles.

  • Work from all types of aerial lifts and operate lifts as necessary in a safe manner.

  • Perform work at various heights upwards to 120 feet from various means (aerial lift or climbing).

  • Accurately read labels, job site maps/directions, instruction manuals and written instructions.

  • Employee must have ability to acquire / maintain personal hand tools and other tools necessary for this position (line-worker belt, hooks, scare strap, tool pouch, nut bag and line-worker high top boots) as directed.

  • Other miscellaneous duties, as assigned, to assist with the completion of a task.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Job may require working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, or snow.

  • Job may require operation of equipment in all elements without climate control.

  • Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities. (Porta-Johns).

  • Job requires employee to have required hand tools with them at all times while at work site. (Waist tool belts can weigh up to 40 lbs.)

  • Must wear personnel protective equipment at all times. (i.e. Hard hats, safety glasses, safety harnesses as required).

  • Repetitive use of arms, legs, hands and fingers.

  • Ability to work 9 hours per day, 45 hours per week and additional, as required, with little or no advanced notice.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS – (THE EMPLOYEE SHOULD BE ABLE TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS WITH OR WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMODATIONS):

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.

  • Ability to lift, by one’s self, work- loads of up to 50 lbs.

  • Possess good vision / hearing. (Normal or corrected).

  • Ability to work while constantly moving on one's feet.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School graduate or G.E.D. required

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

  • Drug Free workplace: must be able to pass pre-employment and other drug screening requirements

    PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Previous electrical line and / or construction experience is preferred.

  • Heavy equipment operator experience

    LICENSES:

  • Class A CDL
