We are seeking a Building Surveyor with relevant experience gained in a similar practice. The role will involve a mix of professional and project-based surveying work with direct exposure to a wide cross section of internal and external clients and sectors.

  • Key account management responsibility and develop excellent relations and contacts both internally and externally with Real Estate’s clients.

  • Identify streams of work and cross selling opportunities.

  • Preparation of general reports and recommendation to clients including but not limited to: Due diligence; feasibility studies; condition and / or maintenance reports.

  • Assessment of condition of existing buildings, identify and analyse defects, including proposals for repair.

  • Preparation / review of Schedules of Dilapidations and negotiating settlements.

  • Preparation of Building Reinstatement Cost Assessments.

  • Preparation of specifications / schedule of works.

  • Preparation of outline and working drawings.

  • Preparation of project programmes.

  • Preparation and procurement of budget estimates for works

  • Submission and negotiations of proposals to local authorities and local planning authorities.

  • Preparation of contract documents. Contract administration, valuation and certification.

  • Tendering and evaluation.

  • Monitoring of building works and existing structures for compliance with regulations and bye-laws and client’s requirements.

  • Advise on the Health & Safety aspects of buildings.

  • Advise on Construction Design and Management regulations.

  • Performance of duties not specifically listed above but which may reasonably be expected of a competent Building Surveyor.

YOUR TEAM

GL Hearn are a successful multi-disciplinary property consultancy, with a proven track record for providing the full range of Building Consultancy services, high technical skills and experienced professional staff located throughout the UK. We are looking to add an experienced qualified surveyor into our National Building Consultancy team, as part of the company’s growth plans. The successful candidate will be able to thrive in a busy environment, supporting the team working with investor, landlord and occupier clients and will be comfortable in client-facing business generation.

  • Degree in Building Surveying and experience, ideally in private practice.

  • MRICS with post qualification experience or working towards MRICS status.

  • Client facing skills with an ability / potential to generate – as well as deliver – both repeat and new business.

  • Be able to work autonomously managing instructions from inception through to completion.

  • Strong, versatile organisation skills, coupled with the ability to work under pressure.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven team working skills, with the capability to work collaboratively.

  • Fully computer literate, and AutoCAD, NBS and Microsoft proficient.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Clean driving licence.
