Position Overview:

Provides and assist in quality patient care in the Medical/Surgical Services, Telemetry, ED, ICU and various patient care units and Division under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse.

Job Description :

  • Provides appropriate direct patient care to patients under the supervision of Registered Nurse

  • Prioritizes work and provides prompt and efficient service.

  • Transports patient to the OR from the floor, Periop, and all other patient care areas. Transports patients from PACU/Periop/IR/GI to all other patient care areas postoperatively.

  • Transports specimens from OR to appropriate departments (ie. Laboratory, Mammo, etc.)

  • Demonstrate sensitivity to patients’ comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress.

  • Assists/Performs preoperative preps for surgical patients under the supervision of the nurse.

  • Adheres to hospital and nursing department P&P’s, objective, QI program, safety, environment and Infection Control standards. Maintains a safe and comfortable environment for patients.

  • Maintains effective communication.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

  • Attends meetings as required.

  • Participate in an educational program and in service meetings.

EDUCATION

  • Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

  • HS Diploma

  • Other: Completion of a Nursing Assistant or Surgical Instrument Technician program

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

  • CNA-Certified Nurse Assistant

  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

  • 2 years CNA experience or Operating Room experience

  • Previous experience in direct patient care preferred

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Assist with lifting, supporting, maneuvering, and adjusting the position of patients weighing over 200 pounds

  • Ability to make fine discrimination in sound

  • OSHA Risk Category I (High Risk)

  • Occasionally pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries

  • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations

Pay Range is $29.77 to $33.34 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
