The Role

The Systems Engineer shall provide systems engineering services to support the achievement of the delivery of engineering materiel system inputs into the Engineering Management Unit (EMU) Project work packages.

Duties that may be performed include but not limited to:

  • Provide Professional Engineering advice on Land Material managed by EWIS-L SPO;

  • Development of documentation including SEMP, TCP, Safety Cases, and Hazard Analysis Reports, for acceptance of Prime Equipment systems and sub-systems;

  • Material Certification of EWIS-L SPO managed systems, in accordance with EWIS-L SPO guidance, for Principal Engineer and Executive Authority Approval;

  • Conduct ECPs and technical investigations for EWIS-L SPO managed systems;

  • Conduct and coordinate the wider review of engineering management documentation (specifically relating to Safety Case and Hazard Analysis Reports), identifying issues, concerns and opportunities, and comparing to industry and military standards, as well as best practice guidance;

  • Plan, conduct and provide reporting for Test & Evaluation (T&E) activities in accordance with T&E Policy;

  • Conduct Engineering & Technical (E&T) internal audits and provide reporting in accordance with EWIS-L SPO Audit Program Schedule.

  • Stakeholder engagement activities including participation in meetings, working groups and mandated systems reviews.

    Required Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (preferably Systems, Electrical, Electronics, Communications, or Telecommunications).

  • Technical Proficiency (An individual who holds an accredited or recognised four-year engineering degree and has completed a minimum of three years engineering work experience after completing the degree.)

  • Demonstrated Systems Engineering qualifications or experience.

  • Be an Australian citizen and hold an Australian Government security clearance – Minimum NV1.

  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills and experience.​

Highly Desirable

  • Experience working within a Land Material Safety Framework (LMSF).

  • Knowledge and use of Spectrum analysers and other RF test equipment.

  • Laboratory and/or Field based testing of designs. Post-graduate qualifications in a relevant technical field.

  • Experience in tailoring and applying AS/NZS ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288:2015, or equivalent.

  • Practical experience in Project Engineering and ability to work in a distributed team environment.
