JOB TITLE: Family Waiting Room Liaison

Responsible and accountable for greeting and welcoming patients and family members/friends. Provides assistance as necessary and answers the physician phone line. Keeps family members informed of patients process throughout their Surgical Suite experience. Works in close cooperation with other staff members, physicians, and management. This position is a versatile role that assists in maintaining patient and family/visitor satisfaction in the Surgical Suite through responding to the emotional component of illness and injury.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction. Provides adherence to requirements mandated by Joint Commission, DOH, HIPAA, Performance Improvement, Infection Control and Safety Management.
The waiting room liaison must be capable of self direction and show progressive ability to develop higher level critical thinking and decision making skills. Ability to manage on-site patient complaints and offer service recovery is expected.
Functions under the direction of Team Coordinators and Registered Nurses. Reports directly to the Operations Manager.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Service industry experience preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
