Description

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

This opportunity requires the services of a professional person who is flexible, articulate, and able to communicate with a wide variety of people. Must have experience driving trucks (at least 18 feet) and be able to lift weights up to 35lbs. Must be able to operate warehouse machinery and maintain detailed accurate records in clear, legible handwriting and via inputting into NetSuite, Excel and other software as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Pickup and delivery of various types of food and product to partners from local donors;

• Arrange cross docks with partners;

• Operate vehicle/equipment such as box truck, pallet jack and forklift;

• Maintain rapport with retail donors and/or their employees to foster continued support and a professional working relationship and resolve conflict with donor partners as needed in a professional, courteous manner;

• Pickup and deliver food at locations in a timely, safe and courteous manner;

• Inspect product donations to assure that safety standards are met;

• Maintain trip logs which ensure a safe and sanitary vehicle at all times;

• Responsible for maintaining accurate weight receipts of the amount and type of food picked up at each donor location and dropped off at each partner location;

• Perform all maintenance checks required for vehicle operation and report conditions to supervisor;

• Maintain organized clear written and electronic documentation and assist with reporting and record maintenance and upkeep in software programs as needed;

• Assisting with any and all mission work as needed and requested with some or no prior notice including, but not limited to: serving as a truck spotter, helping with FARM Market/Community Garden/Freight Farms/on and off site food distributions, preparation of meals and serving home-delivered meals; and

• Other duties as assigned or needed

Requirements

• Excellent oral and written communication skills;

• Computer software and hardware applications knowledge;

• Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent;

• Minimum of three (3) years related experience in a warehouse, retail, wholesale or food service setting;

• Ability to build and maintain effective working partnerships;

• Maintain a valid NYS driver’s license with a clean driving record;

• Ability to operate a truck in all weather conditions;

• Ability to operate heavy equipment such as a pallet jack, forklift, lift gate etc.;

• The ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision;

• Extremely organized, detail-oriented and able to keep accurate records for tracking and reporting; and

• Problem solving to identify solutions and meet and enhance the organization’s mission

Salary Description

$20.00-$22.00/hr.
