Job Description

The Digital Unit is developing new software-based products that will require security engineering. The Product Security Engineering Sr. Manager at Olympus Corporation's Digital Unit will lead a team of engineers that help develop requirements, threat models, architect, and oversee the development of security within all Digital Unit Products. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, and strategic thinking to ensure security and resilience of our current and developing digital products.

Job Duties

  • Direct and supervise employees and consultants working to build security into Digital Unit Products while adhering to all quality system guidance related to product security.

  • Contribute to the continued development and build out of the product security function within the digital unit; make recommendations on how best to utilize and grow our resources.

  • Provide guidance and thought leadership on how to enhance processes, procedures, and documentation related to security engineering for the Digital Unit.

  • Work with project leaders to assess security demands for projects and assign resources to meet the needs on multiple, concurrent projects.

  • Guide, Mentor, and Develop team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.

  • Educate and collaborate with cross-functional teams on the topic of product security engineering.

  • Provide expert oversight on threat modeling and security risk management activities through the pre-market phase.

  • Collaborate with the team on the security testing strategy for newly developed and current Digital Unit products, which will include concepts such as, static code analysis, dynamic analysis, fuzz testing, compliance testing, penetration testing, etc.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, guidance, security trends, and internal policies governing product security, globally (including US, Japan, and EU).

  • Participate and represent Olympus in external cybersecurity forums as appropriate.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, cybersecurity, computer engineering or related area preferred with equivalent experience acceptable.

  • Advanced certifications (CISSP, CISM, CISA, etc.) preferred.

  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in Information Technology, Engineering, and/or Cybersecurity with focus on the medical device industry.

  • Other Considerations (travel/hours availability, etc.): Occasional travel may be required.

  • Work time outside of “normal” workhours may be required from time to time.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated experience in understanding complex, global regulations impacting the healthcare environment.

  • Knowledge of security controls and how to develop them for safety critical systems.

  • Developed / managed security engineering resources.

  • Expertise in threat modelling, security risk management, secure coding, secure system development, and DevSecOps

  • Knowledge of product security related to software and/or cloud enabled products.

  • Experience with embedded technology and software security.

  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of effectively managing and developing teams.

  • Effective communicator and ability to manage several complex tasks while keeping leadership updated on key status.

  • Experience or knowledge of government and industry standards, guidance’s and frameworks applicable to product software development such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework, OWASP, HIPAA, SANS/CWE and/or CERT, EU MDR, STIG, FDA, NIST; ISO, GDPR, PCI, etc.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $125,634.00 - $175,888.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position including: level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
