    We are currently seeking candidates to take on a corporate Lab Project Manager & Supervisor opportunity within our Lab Services team (Integrity Lab + Reliability Lab + Quality Lab). The person selected for this position will be responsible for managing the daily operations of our corporate testing lab, supervising the staff of lab technicians and assistants, and ensuring that Daktronics’ test, measurement, and failure analysis capabilities are world class.

    This position reports to the Lab Services Manager.

    Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Lab Operations

  • Manage daily operations of Daktronics corporate test, measurement, and failure analysis lab.

  • Plan and direct "Running the Business" and "Improving the Business" work for your team.

  • Play a lead role in Program Increment (PI) Planning with other cross-functional teams.

  • Initiate, track, and manage annual operating budget.

  • Track lab equipment and personnel utilization/capacity and help level workloads.

  • Ensure that lab equipment maintenance and calibration tasks are created, tracked, and completed on time.

  • Provide corporate oversight of equipment and tool calibration for domestic facilities.

  • Schedule tests and coordinate materials and supplies.

  • Maintain customer relations and promote lab tours for potential customers.

  • Ensure lab safety & security.

  • Incorporate Lean Manufacturing concepts into all aspects of work. Lead 5S initiatives and ensure daily, weekly, and monthly tasks are developed and completed on time.

  • Document processes using work instructions, job instructions, standard work, etc.

  • Create, manage, and maintain laboratory SharePoint resources as well as project management software tools.

  • Drive process improvement efforts.

  • Supervision/Team Leadership

  • Coach, mentor, and supervise employees (i.e. staff of lab technicians and lab assistants).

  • Assign work, manage schedules, and remove obstacles for employees.

  • Develop standard work for employees and help manage workflow.

  • Provide developmental growth opportunities for employees.

  • Grow the skills and capabilities of the individual employees and of the team.

  • Manage team conflicts and address issues in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for staffing/hiring, onboarding, and training (initial and ongoing).

  • Reinforce and embody company values - helpful, honest, humble.

  • Reinforce company policies and practices.

  • Provide feedback to employee from multiple sources and perspectives.

  • Lead Performance Development Conversations (1:1s/R&Ps/Compensation/Career) in a consistent, timely, and effective manner.

  • Represent Daktronics as an Agent of the Organization. Consistently model Daktronics high-performing leader and team behaviors. Positively influence to further Daktronics culture and success.  

  • General:

  • This position is available as a hybrid work location with some on-campus days to facilitate training, project management activities, and experiencing the types of work in the lab.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred majors include Business, Economics, Operations Management, Industrial Management, or other related fields.

  • Preferred experiences:

  • Supervision experience.

  • Project management experience.

  • Familiarity with Daktronics’ products and processes.

  • Lean Manufacturing implementation.

  • High interpersonal skills showing collaboration with others and building effective relationships.

  • A desire for results, strong time management skills, and a dedication and desire for quality performance.

  • An interest in how Daktronics products function and things that can cause them to malfunction.

  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail.

  • Strong problem solving and project management skills. Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.

  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills required. Fluent in English, written and verbal.

  • Solid understanding of software tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, other project management software tools.

  • Ability to learn new software tools and teach others how to use them, particularly tools for project management and organizing work.

  • Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
