Northrop Grumman - Advanced Space Processing has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer/ Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Boulder, CO.

The selected candidate will support the Integration & Test team working on BOA/ESL program. This role will include software site integration, execute test activities, software Installation, system functional checkout, document writing, test report generation, hardware & software integration support, system/sub-system troubleshooting, and perform requirement verification & validation. This position involves significant teamwork, communication, and coordination with a variety of engineering disciplines and customer representatives. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to complete tasks with little direction and oversight. They will be an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and customers.

Essential Functions:

The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support formal requirement verification and validation

  • Perform and support software installation/Integration efforts

  • Document, test and debug software

  • Collaborate with software developers in an Agile environment

  • Perform regression testing and post patch testing

  • Analyze system capabilities to identify and write software bugs using JIRA

  • Support Test Events as needed

  • Communicate regularly with program management, customers, and engineering management

  • Generate and update applicable documentation (i.e. Test Procedures, Event Plans, etc.)

  • Provide problem resolution and improvement recommendations with strong time management skills

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience, a master's degree with 3 years of experience or a Ph.D. with 0 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields

  • Technical writing skills for generating analysis and reports

  • Experience with MS Office suite of tools (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required to start and the ability to acquire a Top Secret security clearance

  • Security + or DOD Directive 8570 compliant (or ability to obtain one within 6 months)

  • Experienced in troubleshooting and resolving complex HW/SW integration problems

Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree with 9 years of experience, a Master's degree with 7 years of experience or a Ph.D. with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields

  • Technical writing skills for generating analysis and reports

  • Experience with MS Office suite of tools (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

  • A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required to start and the ability to acquire a Top Secret security clearance

  • Security + or DOD Directive 8570 compliant (or ability to obtain one within 6 months)

  • Experienced in troubleshooting and resolving complex HW/SW integration problems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical Lead/deputy lead experience

  • DoD Top Secret/SCI/Poly highly desired

  • A DoD 8570 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) highly desired

  • Experience or related experience in Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) systems

  • Working knowledge of DOORS, CAMEO, Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)

  • Experience with formal requirement verification and composition

  • Experience with test procedure development for verification of requirements

  • Experience creating test plans and procedures

  • Agile development experience a plus

  • Experience with the Agile software development lifecycle

  • Experience using Red Hat Linux and Windows operating systems

Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900

Salary Range 2: $133,000 - $199,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
