Space Lab Technologies, LLC Electrical Engineer III For Lunar Surface Payload in Boulder, Colorado

Space Lab is currently looking for an Electrical Engineer Level III to support research and development of advanced technology for human space exploration and space science. This position specifically involves development of the Lunar Effects on Agricultural Flora Beta (LEAF ß) payload for operations on the Lunar surface, which is crew deployed during the NASA Artemis III mission (may be manifested on a later mission). This position reports to the LEAF ß Principal Engineer. The expected start date for this position is June 3, 2024.

Responsibilities: The Electrical Engineer III (EE III) leads the electrical engineering of the LEAF ß project, which involves the 1) command and data handling (CDH) system, 2) power (PWR) system, and 3) flight wire harness (FWH). Due to the limited schedule for delivery to the human landing system (HLS) integrator, commercial-of-the-shelf (COTS) radiation tolerant solutions are sought. During the definition and design phases, the electrical engineering team conducts trade analyses of COTS systems. The EE III supports the performance analyses led by the system engineers to include both data and power analyses. The EE III supports the development of procedures, such as assembly, bench power test, integration, acceptance testing, mate/de-mate of interfaces, etc.

Overall Responsibilities: -Circuit design and board layout (power, analog, and digital) -Power System Analyses -Solar Array Sizing -Power System Design for peak power -Power Regulation Design -Power Distribution Design

-Flight Wire Harness Design -Space flight wiring design and development -Hands-on prototype development to include the use of soldering/desoldering stations, surface mount components, crimp tools, lacing cord, etc. -Space flight hardware development -Technical writing for reports, grants, publications -Technical presentations to customers and the public

Requirements: This position requires extensive knowledge and experience with spacecraft electronic design to be applied to both unmanned and human rated systems, especially with the use of robust radiation hardened components. Experience with spaceflight grade connectors is required. Proper practices of ESD labs are required. MATLAB experience is required. OrCAD Capture and PCB Editor experience is required. Software programming is a plus. U.S.A. citizenship is required. Travel for conferences, customer presentations, payload integration/testing, and rocket launches is required approximately 4 per year. The position is a full-time exempt position of 40 hrs/week, where the duties require minimal supervision. Overtime work above the 40 hrs/week is expected only to meet deadlines.

Education and Experience Requirements: M.S. in Electrical Engineering +2 years or B.S. +4 years experience

Salary: $110,000.00 to $140,000.00 /year
