The Regional Command Center is looking to hire a part-time Dispatch Operator for the evening shift at our Regional Medical Center in Boise!

Position Highlights and Summary :

  • Dispatch Operators work in our Regional Command Center.

  • The Regional Command Center is responsible for monitoring the alarms (life safety equipment, critical life plant functions, security cameras and panic alarms to name a few) for all four hospitals including the Boise Regional Medical Center, Nampa, Ontario, and Baker City Medical Centers.

  • The Center also answers and routes thousands of phone-calls a day from the public and Saint Alphonsus colleagues and works very closely with senior leadership, Clinical Leaders, the Security Team, and Facilities management at each Medical Center. The center also oversees Security ID badging.

What You Will Do :

  • As a Dispatch Operator you will work under minimal or no supervision to courteously answer and dispatch all received calls, alarms, and emergent situations in a timely manner.

  • You will serve as a liaison between the hospital and the public by providing information and assurance of routing calls to the appropriate departments or areas as needed.

  • In this role, you will remain calm and organized under all types of situations. All duties are performed in a way that promotes a team concept and reflects the mission of the Saint Alphonsus Health System.

  • You will monitor and document the following:oAll life safety equipment for SAHS and dispatches appropriate responders as necessary.oCritical life plant functions and life safety functions per procedure and notifies appropriate responders timely and accurately.oSecurity cameras and panic alarms for RHMs and SAMG and dispatches appropriate responders. oFor PharmaWatch per regional contract to respond with the appropriate policy based on alert notification.

  • An ideal candidate will have strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills, has a strong understanding of following written instructions and procedures, and is open to constructive feedback.

Work Schedule :

This position will work 24 hours/week, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, 3:00pm - 11:00pm.

Orientation and Training :

The orientation for Dispatch Operators is typically 5 weeks. Your first week will be general orientation and system training. Training can be flexible based on availability, but ideally you will train on all shifts - 1 to 2 weeks on a day shift, 1 to 2 weeks on a swing shift, and 1 week or so on a night shift, so some flexibility is needed initially for training. Our shifts are 7am – 3pm, 8am – 4pm, 11am – 7pm, 3pm – 11pm, and 11pm – 7am.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Dispatch and/or hospital experience preferred.
