Spudnik Controls Technician in Blackfoot, Idaho

Job Summary The Controls Technician provides support to Department Supervisor on maintenance of production equipment, documentation of department data, allocation and organization of resources, and participates in departmental goals and projects. The Controls technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing industrial control systems and will demonstrate high level understanding in diagnosis and troubleshooting of electricals systems and diagrams. The Controls Technician will be able to diagnose and troubleshoot with appropriate equipment and demonstrate proper workplace safety practices. Teamwork and customer service skills are important as Control Technicians are expected to work directly and indirectly with employees, other leads, supervisors, managers, and outside vendors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary. • Work on high level repairs and accurately diagnose problems through techniques like fault tree analysis, root cause analysis, and problem/cause diagnosis; • Understand ladder logic diagrams, User Interfaces, I/O Interfaces, PLC diagnostics, basic robotic assemblies, and CNC Technology; • Work closely with customers & Maintenance Supervisor to prioritize and address maintenance requests; • Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to diagnose complex computerized systems, and complete system upgrades and installations; • Use tools like multimeters. ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, and other advanced electrical equipment; • Understand basic fault codes and use equipment documentation to determine root causes of equipment failure; • Be a technical expert on the operation and maintenance of production equipment and train team members on new products and techniques; • Be a top performer in electrical troubleshooting and component understanding; • Demonstrate an excellent understanding of company operating procedures and policies with commitment to put them into practice; • Perform required administrative tasks, such as timekeeping, communication emails, and repair documentation; • Assist Department Supervisor in identifying areas for process and procedure improvement and develop action plan for improvement. Additional Duties and Responsibilities Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary. • Work in a team environment with little or no supervision; • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment; • Fill in where necessary during team member absences; Qualifications • Experience working on CNC or Automated Systems; • Well-developed knowledge of processes, equipment, parts, systems, tools, and machinery required in equipment manufacturing and production; • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines; • Excellent troubleshooting, critical thinking, and analytical skills; • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal; • Ability to effectively work with ERP systems, spreadsheets, word processing documents, and other applicable computer systems and software. Machines Typically Operated • Basic clerical machines including computer, printer, telephone, etc.; • Hand tools, overhead crane, forklift, etc.; • Other machines or equipment specific to departmental or facility needs. Typical Physical requirements • Medium work involving: Climbing Handling Talking Repetitive motions Crouching Walking Stooping Pushing Pulling Lifting Kneeling Grasping Visual acuity Typical Environmental Conditions • Worker is subject to inside shop environmental conditions. May have temperature changes due to working inside a shop. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. Includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: Fumes, odors, dust mists, gases or poor ventilation. There is air and or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
