From your PASSION to ours

The Assistant Production Manager assists the Department Manager to enhance the technical and financial performance of the cheese making Production department. The Assistant Production Manager will lead their team to meet the required production in terms of quantity, cost, deadlines and quality to ensure a secure manufacturing environment. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. Weekends are required.

From your EXPERTISE to ours

Key responsibilities for this position include:

· Assist in organizing the Production team

· Manage Staff: integrate, train, appraise, redefine responsibilities, praise, ensure development and gauge training needs

· Conduct interviews as necessary

· Lead a team: delegate, instill a sense of responsibility, set targets, communicate instructions, control, listen

· Provide reports to his or her line management

· Cooperate with other management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures and · goals.

· Manage and organize the work of the production team on designated shift

· Gauge training needs and participate in proposing training timelines

· Apply well-defined standards (costs, budgets)

· Record production data

· Analyze and evaluate production data and determine the negative or positive net effect

· Implement corrective action plans

· Lead and control various production parameters and implement corrective actions

· Propose technical and organizational improvements to line management

· Be involved in trials (machines, products, processes etc.)

· Apply any environmental regulations and ensure they are respected

· Apply the safety rules and ensure they are implemented and followed

· Apply and enforce all Good Manufacturing Practices

· Follow food safety laws, rules and regulations

· Work closely with Quality to ensure the quality and specifications of product are continually being met

· Comply with all Lactalis Policies and Procedures

· Uphold all rules pertaining to confidentiality of information regarding Lactalis products, recipes and employee information

Requirements

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:

Education:

· Bachelors or Masters Degree in Dairy Science/Chemistry or Food Science related field preferred

Experience:

· 5 years experience in dairy production and/or food industry

· 3-5 years experience in a management/supervisory role

License:

· Must possess a Wisconsin Cheesemaker’s License or ability to obtain one

Specialized Knowledge:

· Agri-food industry technology and processes, food biology, food biochemistry, quality, food safety, and health and safety
