The Job : 

Our ISO 9001 certified Hydraulics division located in the Bedford, NH branch is seeking candidates for a dynamic work position within a small, dedicated team that requires skills and experience with welding, layout, fabricating, and component assembly of custom-engineered hydraulic power units, as well as the ability to learn and perform tasks related to mechanical repair of electric industrial motors and pumps within our Mechanical division as shop workloads shift between the two divisions.  Occasional opportunities for field service work to assist our existing on-site mechanical services team or for van delivery of completed units to customer locations may arise.   

  • Full Time Position.

  • 5-day, M-F work week, 8-10 hour shifts with opportunities for overtime.

    Primary Responsibilities :

  • Perform layout, cutting, drilling, and welding tasks for modification of steel hydraulic reservoirs during the build process as required by job-specific engineering drawings under the direction of the hydraulics production manager and the hydraulics division manager.   Use layout drawings to fabricate and install steel mounting brackets, supports, and other structures onto the units.  Utilize various welding and cutting processes, including MIG, TIG, and plasma cutting as needed to complete the work.  Use hand and mag drills, hand tools, and standard measurement and layout tools for locating holes and brackets.  

  • Use printed hydraulic schematics under the direction of the shop production manager to layout, select parts, and assemble components onto hydraulic power units, including electric motors, pumps, couplings, filters, tubing, hoses, and various threaded fittings.  

  • Utilize analytical thinking to provide input on improvements to production layouts and designs.

  • Assist with transfer of hydraulic oil and testing of assembled hydraulic power units prior to shipment. 

  • Assist with packing and crating of assembled hydraulic power units for shipment. 

  • Operate hydraulic lift tables, hoisting and rigging equipment, and forklifts as needed to complete shop tasks.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and assist shop teams during daily and weekly cleaning events.  Provide input on improvements or modifications to shop safety protocols for continuous improvement of shop safety and elimination of observed safety hazards.

    Skills:

  •  Demonstrated experience with safe operation of MIG and TIG welding processes to produce high-quality welds meeting industry standards using current up-to-date welding equipment.   

  • Demonstrated experience with safe operation of plasma cutting process to produce high quality straight or hole cuts that results in minimal slag and burr cleanup. 

  • Experience with efficiently measuring, prepping, laying out steel workpieces for welding, cutting, and hole drilling.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to precisely follow verbal and printed work instructions, and ability to maintain a high level of cleanliness while performing all work tasks.

  • Ability to take instruction, stay flexible, and work within a team environment in which work tasks vary from day to day and/or work tasks are redirected based on daily production priorities.  

    Physical Requirements:

  • Requires lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to conform to OSHA safety standards during all work tasks
