Job Purpose:

The Commissioning Lead-Mechanical will be responsible for overseeing the commissioning process for mechanical systems on the BPROOEPCM project in Basra, Iraq. They will ensure that all mechanical systems are properly tested, inspected, and ready for operation in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement commissioning plans for mechanical systems in coordination with project management and engineering teams.

  • Lead a team of commissioning engineers and technicians to execute commissioning activities on-site.

  • Conduct pre-commissioning checks and tests to verify the functionality and integrity of mechanical systems.

  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to ensure timely completion of commissioning activities.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or deficiencies identified during the commissioning process.

  • Ensure compliance with project safety, quality, and environmental standards.

  • Prepare commissioning reports and documentation for handover to operations team.

  • Proven experience in commissioning a variety of mechanical systems, including but not limited to pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, piping systems, and HVAC systems.

  • Working knowledge of Completions systems, ideally GOC (QEDI Go Completions)

  • Experience in commissioning rotating equipment, both large and small, is essential.

  • Knowledge of process systems, piping, materials, alignments, and safe working practices

  • Experience in water treatment plants in addition to oil and gas projects would be an advantage.

  • Good communication and leadership skills to effectively coordinate commissioning activities.

  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, process systems, shaft alignments, and safe working practices

Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment

  • Experience in commissioning FEED, design, onshore, brownfield, and construction site projects.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Qualifications:

Mandatory:

Educated to Diploma level with professional qualifications and accreditation relevant to the role.

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline from a recognized institution

  • Overall, 20 years of experience and 5 years in commissioning mechanical systems in the oil and gas industry

  • Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role is preferred.

Work Environment:

The Commissioning Lead-Mechanical will work primarily on-site at the BPROOEPCM project in Basra, Iraq. The work environment may involve exposure to construction activities, heavy machinery, and hazardous materials. The individual must be able to work in a team-oriented setting and adhere to strict safety protocols at all times.
