Maryland Transportation Authority Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician II in Baltimore, Maryland

The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates, and maintains eight major toll facilities comprised of four bridges, two tunnels, and two turnpikes across the State of Maryland. Nature of Work:This is the journey level of repair and maintenance work on motor vehicles, diesel-powered equipment and/or construction/maintenance equipment. Employees are responsible for performing routine repair work, standard preventive maintenance services, and assisting with major automotive repairs. Employees receive general supervision from a Heavy Equipment Maintenance Supervisor or other designated supervisor.

Employees in this classification are considered essential employees and are subject to being on call 24 hours a day, as may be required to maintain the continuous operation of a facility. Employees must provide the agency with a telephone number where they can be reached. In the event of hazardous weather or highway conditions, employees will be called to duty during off-hours to maintain and repair equipment. This is maintenance work requiring physical exertion that is performed either outdoors under all weather conditions or inside a building. On some assignments, employees may be required to move objects weighing over 50 pounds.
