Job Description:

The Cadence Compute Systems Group (CSG) develops and licenses IP designs for SoC and ASIC systems. This includes CPUs and high-performance DSPs, DDR and Interface controllers, hardware accelerators, and subsystems. Our high-performance compute engines enable applications such as Edge AI and Machine Learning, Speech, Audio, Vision, and Radar. Our IP designs are used by leading companies and semiconductor developers, and our customers are shipping billions of chips annually using our products.

The CSG Central Applications Engineering team seeks an experienced embedded software developer to become a technical expert on software tools and embedded software for Cadence processors.

Members of the CAE team are experienced experts in their field. In this position you will work with CSG development engineering as well as the customer support teams. You will work on product definition and release, developing collateral and examples, and support customers in programming and integration of Cadence processors and DSPs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop examples, use cases and best practices for optimizing C and C++ code, applications, and firmware for Tensilica DSPs and processors.

  • Write examples, application notes, and tutorials, and create and maintain a Knowledge Base on issues of software tools and their usage.

  • Become the technical expert on Tensilica software development tools such as the C/C++ compiler, linker, assembler, and instruction set simulator.

  • Develop customer training and help train customers and field application engineers on Tensilica software tools, programming, and optimization.

  • Work closely with the Tensilica customer support team and answer advanced questions on our products. Interact directly with customers as needed.

  • Analyze and propose enhancements to our products, software tools, and documentation to better serve customer use cases.

  • Lead the evaluation, review, and advanced usage of new products for release.

Required Skills:

  • Experienced in modern C & C++ compiler optimizations for embedded and DSP applications.

  • Familiar with the implementation of software tools such as compilers, linkers, simulators, and debuggers.

  • Experience in embedded systems programming in C & C++, writing, debugging, and optimizing applications and firmware.

  • Experience with run-time libraries and APIs, and programming in C++ using templates and STL is desired.

  • Familiarity with run-time operating systems (RTOS), multiprocessors, and messaging libraries.

  • Strong communication skills – written and oral are required.

  • Experience in working with customers and resolving customer issues, writing product documentation, creating training material and presenting such material are strongly desired.

  • BS in EE/CS with 10+ years of work experience or MS in EE/CS with 4+ years of work experience required.

  • Some travel (up to 10% of time), including international travel, is required.

The annual salary range for California is $157,500 to $292,500. You may also be eligible to receive incentive compensation: bonus, equity, and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the salary range is a guideline and compensation may vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
