Job Overview

The Respiratory Therapist (RT) Specialist provides family-centered care as demonstrated byrecognizing the patient, family and/or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for patient's preferences, values, and needs. The RT Specialist assumes an active role in clinical education of patients, families and staff; and functions as a role model within respiratory and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, teamwork, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care.

Department Name: Respiratory Therapy - Inpatient - Anschutz Job Status: Fulltime - 72 hours per pay period Shift: Nights - 6:45pm - 7:15am

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy/ Care is required at the time of hire. Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy/Care preferred. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three (3) years of experience delivering respiratory therapy/care, including a minimum of one (1) year of pediatric experience, is required at the time of hire. EQUIVALENCY: None CERTIFICATION(S): Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required. Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) required only if working in an outpatient/ambulatory area. Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) required only if performing pulmonary function diagnostic tests. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 90 days of hire. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 90 days of hire. Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialist (RRT-NPS) preferred by the NBRC. LICENSURE(S): State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Respiratory Therapist license.
