Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts experiments and analyses supporting a variety of metabolomics, medicinal chemistry and small molecule projects, including mass spectrometry-based assays, which includes maintaining sample processing, mass spectrometry, and data analysis.

  • Compiles and records observed experimental results, analyzes and interprets data, and documents results.

  • Collaborates with the principal investigator and other research staff to review scientific literature and develop experimental protocols.

  • Assists with writing sections of research proposal documents for grants purposes, documents lab results and assists with the preparation of manuscripts, such as preparing graphs and charts, for publication in scientific journals.

  • Provides general laboratory administration, such as maintaining lab records, general lab clean up, ordering lab supplies, completing requisition forms, processing financial transactions, and filing.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Professional Research Assistant:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a closely related field

  • Two (2) years of experience working with mass spectrometry, metabolomics, and/or small molecules

Senior Professional Research Assistant:

  • Master's degree biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a closely related field

  • Three (3) years of experience working with mass spectrometry, metabolomics, and/or small molecules

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional Research Assistant:

  • Experience working in a higher education research lab setting

  • Experience managing research lab administrative operations

Senior Professional Research Assistant:

  • Two (2) years of experience working in a higher education research lab setting

  • Two (2) years of experience managing research lab administrative operations

The starting salary range () for this position has been established as Professional Research Assistant: $44,203 - $59,410 Sr. Professional Research Assistant: $$50,359 - $67,682 The above salary range () represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
