Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Atlanta, Georgia

Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I ) is the team behind building the Microsoft cloud. Within CO+I , the Datacenter Planning & eXecution Engineering (DPXE) team is responsible for delivering datacenter capacity for Microsoft’s cloud business. We have a portfolio of complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-million, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects with specific safety, quality, schedule, and cost goals.

The DPX Engineering team is responsible for architecting, designing, and building the next generation of connected systems and tools using microservices architecture or ERP platforms to help manage and support critical business functions such as Supply Chain, Cost, Schedule, Networking, Commissioning, Safety, Planning etc. in a real time manner. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us deliver against our goal of building robust automation for these functions through well engineered systems and at the same time design and build the next gen, ML based, recommendation engine to enable cost and schedule modeling, supply planning, execution planning etc. while integrating with the bigger CO+I ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to determine the requirements for user scenarios.

  • Drive the identification of dependencies and the development of designs for applications, services, and complex system integrations in an Agile environment.

  • Create, implement, optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to establish and improve performance, maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).

  • Leverage subject-matter expertise of product features and partner with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive a workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items.

  • Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guide other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on-call to monitor systems/products/services for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status, and initiating actions to restore systems/products/services for simple and complex problems when appropriate.

  • Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

  • Mentor team members and share knowledge and code assets with the engineering teams.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of experience in software development across at least two of the following domains: Web application development (React, JS, Angular, OR Equivalent), Cloud Development (Azure, AWS, OR Equivalent), CRM Development (Microsoft Power Platform OR Equivalent), Service development (.NET, Java, OR Equivalent).

  • 4+ years of experience in integrating various upstream or downstream systems.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience navigating the full product cycle, from initial design to swift production deployment.

  • Aptitude for comprehending the diverse needs of our customer base, including accessibility requirements, and adeptly implementing software solutions across various platforms.

  • Understanding of storage services such as SQL, including optimization and security measures.

  • Proficiency in AI services, encompassing Gen AI, Long Language Models, Knowledge Graph, Machine Learning, and related technologies.

  • Previous involvement in CRM solutions like Dynamics 365.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
