The Ann Arboroffice of SmithGroupis looking for aSenior Civil Engineerto join our team.SmithGroup has been named one of Southeast Michigan's Top Workplaces by the Detroit Free Press fornine (9)consecutive years!

Working with us, you will: Serve as lead project civil engineer ensuring that the technical aspects of the project meet quality expectations while complementing the design intent. Collaborate with other civil engineers, site design professionals and permitting specialists as well as architects and building engineers. Serve as Project Manager on assigned projects including large multi-disciplinary project teams. Produce civil engineering designs, including preparing project plans and specifications for waterfront, site development, or redevelopment of educational, medical, research, commercial, urban and public facilities. Lead and direct supporting staff to produce plans, details and specifications for all aspects of civil engineering including grading and drainage, stormwater management, underground utilities, retaining walls, roads and other site related features. Serve as a senior engineering resource to engineers and other site discipline professionals. Perform site reviews, construction site visits, coordinate all aspects of Construction Administration. Communicate with clients, sub-consultants, contractors, all government levels of regulatory agencies regarding engineering, permitting and site development issues. Mentor junior staff and participate in performance coaching. Engage with Marketing, Business Development and other disciplines to effectively market our services, develop proposals, interview, and procure new work for the office. Maintain relationships with past clients and develop relationships with current and new clients.

An ideal candidate has: A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. 15 or more years of design experience working as a Civil Engineer. Professional Engineer (PE) registration required. High proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D programs; stormwater modeling experience a plus Experience with sustainable and green infrastructure design. ENV SP or LEED AP a plus. Ability to multi-task under rigid deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as these are essentialas isthe ability to work with clients and colleagues at all levels.
