Job Summary

Come Join Us! ACCO brands is seeking a motivated HR Generalist who will work in the areas of talent acquisition, learning and development, employee/labor relations, culture and engagement, regulatory and legal compliance and policy administration in a collaborative, team-based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administers Human Resources policies and programs to support best business practices

  • Acts as point of contact for employee questions or issues concerning HR policies, programs, and benefits; provides responses in a timely manner.

  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed

  • Administer leave programs

  • Administer collection and retention of records, forms, documentation, and other record keeping information relating to employees and employment issues such as personal employment data, legal defense data, worker’s compensation, OSHA mandated records, etc.

  • Leads recruiting, hiring and orientation activities for positions, manages through complete life cycle of an employee (all stages including retirement/termination

  • Lead temporary staffing needs of the company

  • Identify and drive efficiencies in HR by streamlining processes

  • Research information for management staff as required or for special projects

  • Work with other HR groups throughout the corporation, or others in the delivery of initiatives to be implemented or in the resolution of problems or questions

  • Plan local community public relations programs designed to create and maintain a favorable public image for the employer, including onsite tours and visits and external job fairs.

  • Assist with labor relations issues, including grievance settlements and assisting with negotiations preparation

  • Support change management processes

  • Assists HR Manager in day-to-day management of Workers Compensation cases.

  • Works with operations to support discipline and employee investigations.

  • Address employees' questions and concerns providing responses in a timely manner and redirect to appropriate outsourced vendors.

  • Provides analytical data delivering accurate and timely data and analysis on a variety of projects, reports, and metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent relevant experience is preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a HR Generalist role or 5 years’ experience in a related role

  • SHRM, HRCI or other HR related training/certification is a plus

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, team player with an approachable disposition

  • Current knowledge of employment laws and best practices

  • Ability to deliver under pressure, hard-working and results focused

  • Comfortable questioning status quo

  • Experience with Workers Compensation administration and tracking is preferred.

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience utilizing HR systems, SAP is a plus.

  • Strong sense of urgency with exceptional follow up and follow through.

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational and prioritization skills and be able to effectively manage interactions with key stakeholders.

  • Ability to deal with sensitive and complex issues with integrity and maintain strict confidentiality.
