POSITION: Airport Security Supervisor

REPORTS TO: Manager of Operations

LOCATION: ALB

AIRPORT: Albany International Airport

SUMMARY Assist the Manager of Operations in ensuring compliance with CSR Parts 1540, 1542, and 1544 and acts as the Airport’s principal liaison with local, State and Federal law enforcement agencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following:

  • Responsible for the daily oversight of security operations at the airport.

  • Provides timely evidence as maybe requested by the TSA of compliance with CSR Part 1542.

  • Maintains and provides to the TSA, upon request, a complete and current list of all individuals afforded authorized unescorted access to restricted areas.

  • Maintains documentation of all training provided in accordance with TSA Part 1542.

  • Maintains and updates the Airport Security Program (ASP), to reflect current state of conditions at the airport and TSA requirements under TSA Part 1542.

  • Provides for the timely distribution of the Airport Security Program, or appropriate parts thereof, to appropriate persons or entities.

  • Provides for the appropriate dissemination of all correspondence or other communications (including security directives) with the TSA on security related matters.

  • Employee, or a designated alternate, is available to accompany and assist TSA special agents, upon request, in the performance of their official security related duties.

  • Ensures that TSA representatives will be provided direct access to the Airport Manager or a designee, as requested.

  • Must be able to qualify as the Airport Security Coordinator as defined by CSR Part 1542.

  • When directed, acts as the liaison between the Airport Authority and the FAA, and local, State and Federal law enforcement agencies on matters pertaining to airport security.

  • Administers the issuance of airport Identification Media, maintains records and ensures compliance with CSR Part 1542.

  • Prepares, submits and administers the annual budget for the airport’s security programs.

  • Administers and ensures compliance with the requirements of FAR part 107.14.

  • Maintains thorough knowledge of FAR Part 139.

  • Must qualify as Operations Supervisor.

  • May be required to perform any other related duties as assigned.

    MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly manages all assigned security staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable law. Responsibilities include employee training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performances. Addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Participates in subordinate hiring, discipline, goal setting and performance appraisals.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four year college or university in Aviation or Business Administration; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general industry periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid New York Driver’s License as a condition of employment.
