The Kaizen Company Director of Organizational Transformation in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Ethiopia Learning Analytics Activity Overview:

Ethiopia Learning Analytics Activity is a $48 Million activity designed to bolster the capacity of

USAID/Ethiopia to work towards a Mission-wide systematic and intentional approach to

learning. The Activity will improve data management and help the Mission to make timely decisions in program design and implementation. The Activity will enable wider collective impact of USAID and other partners – thereby better meeting the Development Objectives outlined in the Mission's Country Development & Cooperation Strategy (CDCS). This is a five-year Activity that ends in April 2028.

Overall Responsibilities and Tasks:

The Director of Organizational Transformation will develop and maintain close collaborative relationships with all USAID/Ethiopia Mission Offices, prioritized USAID implementing partners, the Activity’s sub-partners, prioritized Government of Ethiopia entities, and other relevant stakeholders (e.g., other donors).

The Director will also ensure the Activity’s resources and “menu” of offerings are aligned with the Mission’s short-term and long-term needs and utilized optimally. He/She will lead the design and implementation of the Activity’s organizational transformation strategies and initiatives – in close consultation with each Mission Office. He/She will raise awareness and build knowledge of new and emerging organizational development approaches and capabilities available to the Mission by leading organizational development efforts for key USAID/Ethiopia offices and overseeing and assuring quality of all organizational transformation initiatives and deliverables. Lastly, the Director will also drive the application of Lean Innovation and Agile Product Development (as appropriate) across all Activity programming – while building Mission staff capacity for innovation.

The Organizational Transformation Director will also manage a Learning Analytics team consisting of three full-time team members (one Organizational Transformation Deputy Director and two Organizational Transformation Specialists). The Director will report to the Chief of Party and collaborate regularly with supporting teams dedicated to Evidence and Technology, Data Analytics and Learning Innovation led by a team of field office colleagues, international subcontractors with industry-leading capabilities, and a network of local service providers. This position will be based full-time in Addis Ababa.

Required Qualifications: 

+ + Master’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of seven years’ experience with organizational development or related functions; or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of ten years’ experience.

  • A minimum of five years’ experience with managing a team of professionals. 

    • A minimum of three years’ experience supporting USAID and/or USAID-funded Activities with a full range of organizational development services and support.
    • Excellent written and oral communication, facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong skills for planning and execution – driven to produce high quality work on time

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and effectively – plus, respond to changing priorities and circumstances with flexibility and agility.

  • Strong Client management skills with a successful track record of promoting collaboration across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and oral communication, facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal  skills.

  • Strong skills for planning and execution – driven to produce high quality work on time.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and effectively – plus, respond with to

    changing priorities and circumstances with flexibility and agility.

  • Experience and expertise in Lean innovation and Agile product development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting USAID Missions.

  • Familiarity with East African operating environments.
