Job Description

Picture this: the blueprint of a project, meticulously crafted, becomes the guiding light for an entire endeavor. In the realm of Mega and Giga projects, where the stakes are high and innovation is paramount, the journey begins with a plan. But not just any plan – a plan that transcends the mundane, a plan that ignites collaboration and sets the stage for success. As an Associate specializing in technical bid preparation at AECOM, you'll be the mastermind behind this plan – the architect of possibility and the conductor of cohesion. Your task? To sculpt a technical offer so compelling, so comprehensive, that it stands alone as both a project and design management plan. It's not just about winning bids; it's about crafting a narrative that any team member, from client-side stakeholders to sub-consultants, can seamlessly navigate and embrace.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate to lead the preparation of bids for mega opportunities in the Middle East. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and technical compliance of our submissions to clients. This position requires a strong understanding of the lead consultant role, experience in managing architects and engineers, and the ability to coordinate with specialists to deliver successful design submissions.

Responsibilities:

  • Author the technical bids for various projects, ensuring compliance with client requirements and industry standards.

  • Collaborate with project teams to develop comprehensive design management plans outlining the approach and methodology for successful project delivery.

  • Work closely with architects, engineers, and other specialists to gather necessary technical information and inputs for bid preparation.

  • Manage multiple bid submissions concurrently, prioritizing tasks and deadlines effectively.

  • Conduct thorough reviews of bid documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to client specifications.

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams throughout the bid preparation process.

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to address technical queries and resolve issues.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to bid preparation and design management.

  • Supervise and mentor bid management staff within the project team or location.

  • Assist in the development of proposals and participate in presentations to potential clients.

  • Support relevant Leads on all proposal activities.

  • Maintain a list of all active projects and provide weekly reports to the bids and proposal unit.

  • Identify prospects and pursuits, assisting in necessary market research and reporting for new growth areas.

  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external use.

  • Review tender documents, bid/qualifications request documents, and drawings for proposal preparation.

  • Produce man-hour estimates and delivery schedules in collaboration with Discipline Leads.

  • Resolve issues in discussions with other End Markets and Regions to ensure RFP scope and costs are accurately considered.

  • Oversee the process of obtaining quotes from sub-consultants and lead negotiations based on standard contract and Risk committee requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and maintain all records.

  • Verify inclusion of legal qualifications and directives in final bid documents before submission.

  • Deliver within proposal deadlines and prepare presentations required for the Risk Committee.

  • Independently present to the Risk Committee for pursuits valued up to $50m.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (preferably Architecture or Engineering).

  • Minimum 10 years of post-undergraduate education, with proven experience in delivering technical submissions on projects in the Middle East.
