About Nithview Community:
Nithview Community is a seniors' community designed to provide several types of accommodation and services. Residents are able to choose the type of accommodation that is most appropriate for their care needs and continue to live within the community of care as their needs change. Emphasis is placed on assisting residents to live life to the fullest in this dynamic residential setting.
About the Position:
Under the direction of the Director of Recreation and Volunteer Services, the Recreation Assistant plans and implements recreation programs, which enhance the lifestyle of residents at Nithview Community.
Wage:
$18.60 - $21.73 hourly
Qualifications & Experience:
Must have a community college diploma, or university degree in Recreation or equivalent, as approved by the Director of Recreation and Volunteer Services.
Food Handler Certificate
First Aid and CPR (preferred)
Experience in the recreational field, working with seniors, particularly in a long-term care setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Superior resident relationship skills
Ability to advocate for residents' rights and provide person-centred care
Experience in recreation programming for seniors an asset
Experience working with residents with dementia and responsive behaviours is an asset
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Excellent time management and communication skills
Works effectively within an interdisciplinary team setting
Experience in recreation program development and implementation
Excellent documentation and reporting skills
Experience using MDS/RAI, and charting in Point Click Care is an asset
Experience using Microsoft Office programs.
