Job Summary

Maintains programmatic oversight of a regional accreditation program. Responsible to coordinate the work of the Accreditation team in order to lead the specific market to a continual state of regulatory readiness. Collaborates with operational and executive leaders ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies to include, but not limited to: Department of Health (DOH), Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) Conditions of Participation, and standards of The Joint Commission (TJC) as applicable. Communicates new and pending standard interpretations, updates, clarifications and issues of concern to appropriate stakeholders.

Quantitatively and qualitatively, assesses compliance followed by communicating results. The Manager of Accreditation facilitates regulatory readiness activities. Works with staff, evaluating care, to ensure regulatory compliance (tracers). Leads and manages Accreditation Specialists. Delegates and collaborates with Accreditation Specialists while maintaining program accountability.

Evaluates patient safety systems ensuring safe reliable care. Promotes systems designed to reduce the opportunity for human failure in order to achieve a goal of zero harm. Understands and supports an organizational culture of safety. Participates in robust process improvement, utilizing a systematic approach to change management, focused on reducing patient safety and regulatory risk. Supports process change from education through sustainability. Collaborates with all levels of leadership to communicate needs and remove barriers for staff.

Presents regulatory perspective to committees as applicable. Organizes system education and strategies towards achieving a constant state of regulatory readiness. Leads planning for tracing locations and continual readiness preparation and presentation. Spearheads utilization of digital learning center and sharing of knowledge.

Understand the critical components associated and required to achieve intended results and ability to generate consistent approaches for hiring, selection, retaining, and leveraging talent across the department. Assists in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members. Trains others on main considerations and issues related to laws and regulations in the implementation of healthcare practices. Collaborate and actively participate in measuring employee performance. Practices positive collaboration and converts difficult interactions into productive ones. Seeks opportunities to help others learn as teacher, coach, and mentor. Possesses the ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills, such as interacting effectively with other health care professionals, physicians, upper-level management, regulatory agency staff, and the general public. Obtains strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills. Serves as both the subject matter expert on accreditation and survey readiness and mentor to team members. Expected to dedicate additional time towards Sanford patient safety strategies and culture (SAFE leader trainer, coach trainer, new staff trainer, huddle board lead, etc.) and participate in other development programming.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of five years experience in clinical, nursing, healthcare safety, accreditation, or healthcare management setting required. Prior history in leadership/management is preferred.

Certification in regulatory accreditation, patient safety or quality specialty or equivalent required. If a licensed registered nurse (RN), currently hold an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
